  • The Lighter Side
As the end of the financial year draws near, it’s a good time to take stock of your current water assets and treatment plants, operator training levels and what you are looking to achieve in your next financial year.

Call upon the team for any guidance you may require.
Talks with Terry (Engineering in Action): Treatment Plant Commissioning
Here, Terry provides some information on commissioning, to help clear up any confusion.

Use Your SBMP to Protect Your Backside
A Site-Based Management Plan (SBMP) is often required under the conditions of an Environmental Authority for a site engaging in an Environmentally Relevant Activity (ERA) as licensed by the Department of Environment and Science (DES), such as on-site wastewater treatment systems (ERA 63 in QLD).

Actions taken in accordance with a detailed and well-prepared SBMP can demonstrate compliance with the Environmental Protection Act and protect you from prosecution in the event of an emergency that causes the unlicensed release of contaminants into the environment.

Repairs, Optimisation & Refits
We will always aim to Repair and Refit rather than provide a complete replacement to maximise asset utilisation and will always recommend a solution that demonstrates good science, engineering and economics.

Treatment Plant Repairs and Refits aim to restore plants damaged by poor operation, age, construction faults or natural disasters, back to their original design capabilities (or better) utilising as much of the existing infrastructure as possible.

A Fully Supported Turn Key Service
We can provide:

  • Treatment Plant operator/s on site – Cert III or higher qualified and experienced
  • Service Vehicles with: Maintenance Tools; Maintenance Tools; Field Testing; Field Sampling; Critical Spare Parts
  • Service Technicians to undertake both breakdown and routine, planned & scheduled maintenance
  • Fitters; Plumbers; Electricians; PLC/SCADA Technicians
  • On site monitoring, reporting and tuning/control
  • Remote Monitoring, Reporting and Control
  • Call Out Operators
  • Asset, Maintenance and Performance management
  • Monthly Service Reports
  • Annual Maintenance Planning, Budgeting and Scheduling

Water Industry Training Across the Alice Springs, Darwin and Katherine
This team focussed their training on water leak detection, using data loggers and support equipment.
They had a great time going onsite to a flooded Telstra pit and working their way up & down the adjoining area using the audio equipment to pinpoint the leaking service (under a tree of course!)

High Level Skills Funding Is Now Available!
Good news! High Level Skills funding is now available to eligible learners for the new NWP10120.

At Simmonds & Bristow, we understand that Government funding impacts what you and/or your employer has to pay, and when it comes to training – we know how important that is. Review these three current funding schemes available here:
Bringing Communities Together
On a recent training trip to Far North Queensland, six Wujal Wujal Council learners completed their Certificate III studies and assessment with Simmonds & Bristow’s Trainer, John Conaghan.
