THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
REV. SALLY FRITSCHE
Sunday, September 5 at 10:15 a.m. via Live-stream

Labor Day is celebrated this week in honor of the US labor movement, which brought us the 8 hour workday, the weekend, workplace safety standards, and more. Join us this Sunday, led by Rev. Sally, to reflect on that legacy, learn from the wisdom of “Nap Ministry,” and challenge modern notions of “grind culture” and the supposed importance of efficiency. Together we will rest, rebel, and regather the strength we need to live into a purpose beyond productivity.
SUBMITTING JOYS AND SORROWS

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud..
Join our online Zoom Fellowship Hour after the service on Sunday (around 11:30a.m.). Come chat with UUCUC members and friends! All are welcome.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
Your contributions and support allow us to continue to respond with love and resources to the needs in our congregation and the wider community. We couldn’t do it without your support and we are grateful to each of you.

UPCOMING SUNDAY SERVICES
THERESA BENSON
Sunday, September 12 at 10:15 a.m. via Live-stream

As the centerpiece of our worship services during the summer, the Worship Committee crafted a Wellspring series that honored the connections that members of our congregation have to other religious traditions. Interspiritual Reverend Theresa Benson was scheduled to share how an Interspiritual Interfaith approach has developed and become a wellspring in her life during the month of August but was unable. She will offer the interspiritual perspective as part of this mornings service. With this series, we invite all to reflect on the spiritual traditions and practices that enrich your own lives..

RECURRING WEEKEND EVENTS
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 5: MINDFULNESS PRACTICE

In these uncertain times, it is more important than ever to continue the practices that support our well-being and strengthen our community. With this in mind, the Sunday morning mindfulness group has moved online to Zoom.
NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

We have had quite a few people respond to our (voluntary) vaccine registry. If you have not yet filled it out and want to, please go to this link. This will be helpful data for UUCUC's COVID-19 Advisory Group to review as they continue to discuss plans for reopening once the risk level for COVID-19 decreases. Your information is kept confidential amongst need-to-know staff members.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
OUR CARING CONGREGATION
JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, August 22, 2021.

From Sam Beshers: Sorrow at the loss of my uncle’s father, Joe Golinski. Joy that he had more than 90 years here, and was much loved.

From Rev. Florence Caplow: Long time UUCUC member Jean Gillespie passed away peacefully Friday morning, at age 94. She was a unique and adventuresome spirit, who never wavered in her support for this congregation and what we stand for. I mourn her passing. The world seems a little less vibrant, without her.

From Rev. Sally Fritsche: It is my absolute joy to announce that my beloved spouse, Miles, who many of you met for the first time this morning, is coming out as a trans woman. I'm so proud of her, and so looking forward to all the firsts ahead of us. A name change will happen sometime soon, and I'll let you all know when it does. I'm so happy and so grateful to be part of a community I know will embrace and support us wholeheartedly through this journey.

From Jim and Sandy Hannum: Two of our grandsons have birthdays this weekend. We're having fun but are getting caked out!

From Amy Hassinger: For in person classes, even with masks. It is so good to be in the presence of my students again!

From Deanna Hence: To all of those impacted over the past year by floods, droughts, and torrential storms. Water gives, and water can take away.

From A.J. Herzog: A sorrow: our beloved cat Sebastián went missing for several weeks and then was found by a neighbor, taken to the ER and had to be put down. We will miss our mischievous little buddy.

From Jenny Hunt: Overwhelming joy that we are able to truly be together today!!

From Mick McEnroe: There are so many sorrows that are threatening to pull me under, and so many joys that are barely keeping me afloat, that I can't even begin to express them. I hope in moments when we feel buoyed up, we can reach out to our loved ones and be that buoy, even for a moment.

From Elizabeth Simpson: Sorrow at the loss of my uncle’s father, Joe Golinski. Joy that he had more than 90 years here, and was much loved.
Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.organy time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
