Art Exhibit: Cut and Paste, A Show of Collages by Kent artist Patrice Galterio. The exhibit runs from May 3 to June 29, 2021.
Saturday, May 8 at 11:00 a.m. Mother’s Day Storytime and Flower Planting. Let’s celebrate Mother’s Day with some stories, and then let’s plant a potted flower together to bring home and give to a loved one. All ages are welcome to participate. Wednesday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. Home Staging with Bain Real Estate. To Sell or not to Sell? That is the question! Join us for a fun discussion on preparing your house to sell with Amy Danis from Bain Real Estate. We’ll discuss the key points to consider when opening your home to buyers, with staging tips from Amy, who is also a Certified Home Stager. Real Estate is hot, whether you are a buyer or seller – make the most of the most important investment you have! Thursday, May 20 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Spring Book Discussion Series. Retro-History: The Historic Novel. The spring 2021 book group will focus on four historical novels. We will consider how and to what extent authors are successful in rendering the past, and discuss what works and why. There is one sense in which all of our most famous works are historical fiction, starting with Homer and the Bible, but our four novels will be recent publications. They have been arranged in pairs, two novels that start out in the West Indies, two novels that involve Europe and Japan. This month's book is Fifty Words for Rain by Asha Lemmie. The discussion is conducted by Betty Krasne, PhD., writer, professor emerita, and longtime Kent resident. On Zoom. THIS PROGRAM IS FULL.
Saturday, May 22 at 11:00 a.m. Let’s Plant our Library Garden Together! Come help us fill our pots with soil and plant our seeds and seedlings. Be a part of our summer-long gardening program. We will work together from start (planting the seeds) to finish (eating the vegetables) all season long. All ages welcome to participate. We will be meeting on the back lawn of the Library. Wednesday, May 26 at 11:00 a.m. Brain-Healthy Tips to Prevent a ‘Brain Attack’ If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, smoke tobacco, are over age 55, have family history or take certain medications, you may be at risk for a stroke. Also known as a “brain attack,” a stroke occurs when a blood vessel carrying blood and oxygen ruptures or is blocked by a blood clot, halting the supply of vital nutrients to the brain. This lecture will provide important information on the leading cause of serious, long-term disability in America and provide guidance on how you can help keep your brain healthy. Speaker Melissa Braislin is Sharon Hospital’s stroke coordinator, director of cardiology and a speech pathologist who oversees rehabilitation services at the hospital. Free & open to the public. Registration is limited to 10 families.
