Weekly News Update

Social Witness At St. John's

The St. John’s Social Witness Committee invites our St. John’s family to be prayerful and thoughtful as we reach out to our community to “love our neighbors as we love ourselves.” We plan to always “strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being.”

In this time of COVID there are serious challenges to our most vulnerable, valuable population: children. We are committing to ensure, enable and enrich them so we can all have a future. Pray with us as we discern how to partner and support the safe, effective delivery of education at an elementary school in our neighborhood. Three elementary schools are within two miles of St. John’s. Pray with us as we reach out to the principal to determine if we can connect and support the work of the school. Pray with us as we determine the efficacy of “walking and working alongside” of our neighborhood school.

“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.”

Psalm 127: 3

Your suggestions are welcome. Please contact Deacon Margaret: [email protected]

Vestry On-Call

This Sunday's Vestry Person On-Call

Paul Adesokan (2023)

Vestry members are partners with clergy, encouraging the growth of community and the establishment of common ground in the spiritual life of the congregation. Parishioners are always welcome to speak with these individuals on Sunday morning; they assist in making sure our questions, comments, or concerns are heard.

Fall Services Schedule

The end of our summer season is approaching, that means a return to two services on

October 3rd, 2021: Mass at 8:00am (Spoken) and Mass at 10:00am (with choir, organ, and familiar festivity) followed by Coffee Hour. It has not been decided whether to hold our 8:00am service outdoors or indoors. We would value all thoughts from members of the congregation about this arrangement which can be submitted to the church office via email, phone or traditional letter

Lectio Divina

with Mo. Lyn Crow

August 22 & 29, 2021 at 10:30am

There are many different types of bible study each with its own blessing. Lectio Divina is a scripture study that helps us to listen to what God might be saying to us personally in a particular passage. The African Bible Study method is a form of Lectio introduced by the African Delegation to Lambeth Conference in 1998. Come join us as Mo. Lyn helps us explore this popular study method. We will meet on August 22 and 29 at 10:30 am.

Since this class invites participants to share personal experiences, it will not be recorded. Access is restricted to participants in the St. John's community FB group, or in person.
