Conway teacher wins $500 in National Teacher Day Contest
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 4, 2021)– A teacher at Compass Academy in Conway won a $500 classroom makeover this week in the National Teacher Day Giveaway sponsored by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Arkansas State Teachers Association (ASTA) and The Reform Alliance (TRA).
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette randomly selected Paula Wallace, a first- and second-grade teacher, as the winner from more than 200 nominations in the contest.
“Teachers shape the future of Arkansas as they interact with students every day,” said Emmy Henley, TRA’s managing director. “We appreciate their dedication, so we wanted to show our appreciation to these everyday heroes in a meaningful way. We hope that every time Ms. Wallace sees her newly updated classroom, she is reminded of how she has touched the lives of her students.”
