Week of June 7, 2020
As we seek to continue to keep connected as a church family even while apart from one another, below you will find several ways to participate in worship, prayer, and service with others from HBIC. We invite you to join us in any of these various ways this week!

There's also some important "announcement-type" information in this week's e-mail, so be sure to scroll the whole way through!

We continue to pray that you will experience the riches of the Lord's presence during this time that we are not able to be present with one another!

COMMUNION SERVICE - JUNE 7

The pastoral staff will be leading a Sunday Morning Communion Service on Zoom... In place of our pre-recorded worship service this week, we will gather together virtually on Sunday morning for an online Communion Service, beginning at 9 am.

We hope you'll join us for this special service filled with scripture readings, prayer, songs of praise, a brief meditation, and a chance to share in communion together! (Please note: you'll need to plan ahead to provide the bread and juice for your household.)

If calling in by phone, the number is 929-205-6099, and the Meeting ID is 884 8636 3181.

If you have any questions, contact any of the pastors! See you on Zoom!
NEW "WORSHIP THROUGH SONG" VIDEO
AVAILABLE SUNDAY EVENING

We realize that all of our church family may not be able to join us for the Communion Service on Zoom on Sunday morning, so we also wanted to provide a more lasting worship resource for this week on our HBIC YouTube Channel. We're delighted that Pastor Esteban and Priscilla will be blessing us with another video of worship music!

  • The Worship Through Song video will go live on the HBIC YouTube Channel this Sunday, June 7, beginning at 7 pm.
  • An accompanying lyric sheet, so you can sing along with the songs, is available here.
ALL CHURCH ZOOM DISCUSSION ON RACIAL JUSTICE

Please join us on Monday, June 8, 7 to 8 pm for a special meeting on Zoom. We grieve as a church family and community the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and David McAtee. We grieve with our sisters and brothers who suffer from racial injustices.

From Pastor Hank: "This Monday, we invite you to a time of prayer, sharing, and listening. As a body, we belong to Christ and each other. As children of God, we are called to be peacemakers who bring light into our world. In a world of confusion and pain, we turn to God. In a world of darkness and strife, we turn to God. In a world of helplessness and sorrow, we turn to God. Please join us."

(If you'll be joining by phone, the number is 929-205-6099, and the Meeting ID is 834 4578 6061.)

2020 GRADUATES

We are very proud of our high school, undergraduate, and graduate school students who have been celebrating their graduations this spring!

Though we didn't get to hear from our graduates in person in our Sunday morning worship services, we're delighted that they've shared videos and photos with us. Click here to view the graduate video and celebrate the accomplishments of all of these students.

May God bless our graduates as they pursue further education and/or careers, and may their steps be guided by God as they follow him!
CHILDREN'S MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS

Children’s Ministry has not been as busy as when the children are altogether for church programming, but they have still continued to be busy...

Two times a week a group of children meet on Zoom with Pastor Patty and some of the volunteer teachers. They have fun playing games, meeting each other's pets, reading books, talking about life, sharing prayer requests and praying together. It is a highlight of the week. The children have even had Daniel from Mexico join them!

Each week, the Children's Ministry Team is providing a Sunday School lesson for parents to lead with their children; we are blessed to have teachers provide this time for the families. We are also having a Children’s Story most Sundays, and it has been fun to have children be a part of the children’s stories.

Children have also received 3 mailings from the Children’s Ministry in the last couple months, which included challenges, a scavenger hunt, and a fun butterfly at Easter. Some of the games with the children have included prizes, including pizza delivered to their house and Sweet Frog and Starbucks gift cards.

Children's Ministry is planning some fun activities for the summer including physically distanced family fishing at the Cutman’s Pond, which is taking place this weekend. Regarding VBS, Pastor Patty shared, "We are in the process of planning a virtual VBS in July, and we have been invited to join New Hope BIC’s virtual VBS in June." The children’s Ministry team is also working on a summer activity bag to include a new devotional book, some summer activities, and surprises.

Closing thoughts from Pastor Patty: "In the past 3 weeks, we have had 4 babies born. Please continue to pray for these newborns and their families, for the children who have had to deal with a lot of changes in the last 3 months, and for parents who are juggling working from home, teaching their kids and now providing activities and care for their kids in the summer. This has been an unusual time for all of us, but God is good and our kids are resilient. Thank you for all of your prayers for the kids, families, volunteers, and me!"

For more information about any of the above, or to be added to the list for Children's Ministry, contact Pastor Patty.
Summer Camp has been a highlight each year for many of our church's children. Kenbrook Bible Camp has canceled its regular summer camp programming for this summer, but they are offering 3-day family camps.

Families can spend time using Kenbrook's facilities and enjoying time together in a safe manner. Our church will be offering scholarships to make the camps more affordable for families from the church - watch for more details from Pastor Patty, or check with her about this. UPDATE FROM PASTOR HANK

An email update from Pastor Hank regarding our church scheduling went out on Friday. In case you missed seeing it, you can access it here.
PASSING ALONG INFO...

The church office received an email in the last week that contained job openings with PA Legal Aid Network (PLAN) that might be of interest... Since we don't have use of a bulletin board right now, we're these passing along here:
