Virtual Summer Advocacy and Leadership Initiative
*Weekly prizes will be rewarded and a stipend given upon completion
Youth Partnership is offering a FREE  Virtual Summer Advocacy and Leadership Initiative for young men ages 14-18. The initiative will focus on the youth’s perspectives on current events while giving them an outlet to express themselves and participate in positive social activities.

1. Coping With COVID-19
Practical strategies will be provided to help youth. They will be given information and resources to stop the contraction and spread of the virus.

2. Managing emotions during police stops
Youth will process their emotions around recent events when violence was inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.They will discuss safeguards for getting home safely when stopped by the police.

3. Making Sure Your Voice is Heard
Youth will work on public speaking and engaging an audience to effectively deliver their message. Youth will learn presentation and communication skills while preparing public service announcements to bring awareness to the concerns of the youth in the community.


Two public service announcements will be developed by the youth on:
  • Coping with COVID-19
  • Managing emotions during police stops

DATES:
  • Monday July 13 from 6pm to 7:30pm
  • Wednesday July15 from 6pm to 7:30pm
  • Monday July 20 from 6pm to 7:30pm
  • Wednesday July 22 from 6pm to 7:30pm
  • Monday July 27 from 6pm to 7:30pm
  • Wednesday July 29 from 6pm to 7:30pm


*Virtual sessions held via Zoom.
Young men who register will receive incentive at the completion of the series
