JUMP INTO JUNE WITH SCOPE! Happy Summer 2021! As we jump into this week's spotlight, the focus is on some of our amazing supporters and partners who are committed to empowering youth and teens to reach their full potential.

EMPOWER YOUTH & TEENS MITCH REITER SCOPE Board Member As many overnight camps open for the summer of 2021, long-time SCOPE board member and past board president Mitch Reiter is beyond excited – this summer kicks off Camp Towanda’s 99th summer of traditions and summertime fun and Mitch’s 32nd summer at the helm! Mitch and his staff have put in a lot of time and energy to ensure camp is ready to welcome back happy campers (and parents!), and recently shared on CBS News what it has taken to open camp this summer. Fun fact: Mitch was a writer, reporter and producer for WPIX-TV News and INN News in New York before switching gears and returning to camping. Through the years Mitch and the Towanda team have encouraged youth and teens to make Strides4SCOPE all year long. Shopping events, bake sales, mitzvah projects, sports initiatives, and even a bingo night are some of the creative ways these young leaders have contributed to SCOPE’s efforts to provide all children with access to overnight summer camp and we couldn’t be prouder! We hear plans for a SCOPE service project at Towanda this summer are in the works, stay tuned!

DIANA HOCHMAN SCOPE Volunteer As a dedicated SCOPE volunteer, Diana Hochman wears many hats in her efforts to make camp accessible for ALL children -- NY Benefit Committee member, Junior Leadership Council (JLC) facilitator and liaison, Associate Board member, and all-star SCOPE awareness raiser! Her time and talent has made an impact, which all began with her own love and adoration for her camp experiences at Camp Canadensis. Coupled with her professional experience at the International Rescue Committee to help children and families effected by conflict and disaster gain control of their lives, Diana brings a deep sense of compassion in all she does. Diana's skills provide a valued bridge between our teen community of supporters and young professionals and works to keep these groups connected as well as create synergy between them. This year, she paired ten Junior Leaders with Associate Board “mentors” who helped them to brainstorm and plan SCOPE events and initiatives in the teens’ areas of interest. The results: a concentrated effort around March Madness initiatives and the continuation and expansion of the popular Sweat for SCOPE series into Sweat and Smore for SCOPE.
