Dear Neighbors,

Over the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has cost thousands of jobs and stressed many of Alaska’s small businesses to the breaking point. That’s especially true for our restaurants and cafés. The places where we gather indoors to enjoy good food and the company of others have been hit especially hard during the pandemic. Help is on the way thanks to the American Rescue Plan that was signed into law on March 11.

Starting Monday at noon, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will begin accepting applications for a new program called the Restaurant Revitalization Fund. The $28.6 billion program is intended to help restaurants across the country survive the pandemic and put people back to work. As part of the program, restaurants and other food establishments can apply for direct relief funds to offset losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to the opening of the application period, applicants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the application process and register for an account at restaurants.sba.gov. All eligible applicants are encouraged to submit applications as soon as the portal opens on Monday at noon.

I’m here to serve you. If you have questions or concerns, please contact my office at (907) 465-2095 or email me at Rep.Chris.Tuck@akleg.gov.

Please be safe,
