Monroe County Schools and the Mary Persons High School Athletics Department have today temporarily suspended the school's volleyball program due to a student athlete testing positive for Covid-19. This shut down includes team practices and any scheduled competitions.

Under Georgia High School Association (GHSA) and Department of Public Health guidance, the athlete and others involved in the team are being advised to self-quarantine for a period of time. The volleyball team activities are tentatively scheduled to resume on Monday, Aug. 24

"We are closely following the guidance of the GHSA and our local and regional public health officials," said Dr. Mike Hickman, Superintendent of Schools. "Our first and primary goal is to maintain the well-being of our students and our staff, along with their families."
