They're Coming

As lead shepherd of Kamonkoli Presbyterian Church and country-wide leader for the denomination, Pastor Charles Magale is a respected influencer of his community and country. Ugandan pastors are generally bi-vocational and we are privileged to have Pastor Charles, warmly referred to as just “Pastor”, serving as our assistant field director to Katherine. He has been with Katherine since she arrived in Uganda on day one to teach her and help her survive a very different culture. Pastor Charles is a vital part of keeping HUM connected and a part of the community and knows the needs well so that we can best serve the people in a meaningful way.

Judith, Pastor’s wife, works with the church women’s ministries and the children’s choir as she also supports the families in their home community. She has also been a vital part of HUM, working as the assistant sponsorship coordinator to Christine. Pastor and Judith have 3 children, Anna and Daniel in secondary school and 9-year old Rebekah who attends our Genesis primary school as an outstanding student and leader. Because Judith’s parents had passed away, Pastor and Judith brought her younger sisters into their home when they were married. They have taken in several orphans from the community over the years as well.

Bumba, the youngest of 12 children, was one of the first children sponsored through Hines Ugandan Ministries. His widowed mother was also sponsored. Because of Bumba’s opportunities he is able to help much of his extended family, including many nephews and nieces and is changing their lives for the better as well. He has a masters degree in environmental science and works for us, ministering in the sponsorship program and helping coordinate construction and maintenance projects. He also works with our teams as they come to minister alongside of us. Bumba works with our partners, One More Child, to coordinate with their other partner ministries in East Africa.

Pastor and Judith along with 9-year-old Rebekah will be joining us for our anniversary celebrations this year. Please pray with us that Bumba receives his visa this time around so he can join us as well. Some of you have met David, Katherine’s first child to live in her home, and he will be sharing at our Lakewood location. Katherine is also bringing 7-year old Eunice from the children’s home for all 3 events. She and Rebekah will steal hearts.

We are so looking forward to the celebrations and hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join us and to meet our Ugandan friends. We’re sorry we can’t have it in more locations for more of you to celebrate with us, but we hope that you have been enjoying our special edition videos. We are hoping to

live-stream our Lakewood event on our Hineskids Facebook page on September 21 ^st beginning at 6p if you would like to join us.

Katherine's U.S. car has seen its last day. She will be in need of "around town" transportation in the Denver area from approximately October 15 to November 15.
