ATEC News: September 2020
The annual conference will go online in just a few weeks. ATEC will host 11 panels and a "virtual" exhibit hall, all focused on issues directly impacting aviation technical education.

The event will kick off with a keynote address from FAA Administrator Steve Dickson and follow-on briefings from executive-level officials and individuals responsible for FAA testing and designees.

Day 2 will feature "plane talk" on the economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on aviation and workforce projections. Peers will share best practices, and government relations personnel will give you the inside scoop on what to expect out of Washington in the coming months.

Wednesday is dedicated to continuing education and teaching tips for our instructors, with a focus on strengthening and fine tuning online instruction and blended learning environments.

The last two days will highlight trade association programmatic aspects, including an update on the member-funded Choose Aerospace initiative and briefings from our community leaders. Exhibitors will wrap up the week with our long-beloved door prize raffle (as always, you must be present to win!) and an opportunity for some face time with vendors in our virtual meeting room.

All sessions will be recorded for those that are not able to attend the live event. Full registration and a la carte options are available.
To Do List
ATEC Member Survey
ATEC is benchmarking results from a May survey of aviation maintenance technician schools (results from that survey were presented in a June webinar). The objective is to further assess coronavirus impacts on aviation technical schools. All FAA part 147 schools are asked to respond to the short questionnaire. Take the survey.
Share Your Best Practices at the Virtual Conference
The council will facilitate a panel focused on sharing ideas for mitigating pandemic-induced impacts on aviation technical programs. Community leaders are invited to share their best practices. To be considered as a panelist for the Sept. 15 event, submit your idea by Sept. 3.

Call to Action: Demand Part 147 Reform
The regulation governing part 147 programs has not been significantly revised since the 1960s. The PARTT 147 Act would direct the FAA to promulgate a community-drafted, performance-based regulation that would reform the current rule. ATEC is encouraging the community to reach out to congressional leaders for support. Read More.
ATEC Journal: Call for Papers
The submission deadline for the fall edition of the Journal is October 1.
