NATIVE AMERICAN
HERITAGE MONTH
NOV 2022
Learn and celebrate, here are a few ideas:

VISIT:
Maidu Museum & Historic Site, in what is now called Roseville, that for thousands of years was the home of the Nisenan Maidu. See California Indian traditional practices, and walk the trail to see hundreds of bedrock mortars, and ancient petroglyphs.

Experience the largest Native American Basket collection in the Lake Tahoe Basin at the Gatekeepers Museum, in North Lake Tahoe.

VIEW: Community Arts Grant Recipient, On Native Ground. The Hoopa Tribal non-profit media organization creates award winning documentaries and feature films about Native peoples. Learn more about their captivating films on YouTube, with this and other movie trailers:

RACIAL EQUITY WORKSHOPS

Registration is now open for our free online public workshops intended to advance racial equity within the state’s arts and cultural field.

The themes explored will be relevant to arts organizations, artists, nonprofits, and government agencies interested in advancing racial equity practices in their institutions. Learn More & Register:
NATIVE CRAFT FAIR
NOV 5
Indigenous vendors from all over the Sacramento, Foothill, and Bay areas will be selling contemporary jewelry, basketry, paintings, prints, and much more at the Maidu Museum.
*Museum Members can arrive at 9 am for a Members-only shopping hour*
Drop-in arts and crafts activities are a great way for children to explore their creativity and dabble in a variety of different art mediums! More:

STUDIOS TOUR
TASTE OF THE TOUR RECEPTION
NOV 5
The Placer Artists Tour preview show, “Taste of the Tour” will be held at Blue Line Arts in Roseville. At this exhibit, you can view the work of all participating artists, and pick up the Arts Directory for the Tour. Join the reception and kick-off the Tour from 5-8 pm, admission is free.
LINCOLN REGIONAL ARTIST PREVIEW RECEPTION

Art League of Lincoln is hosting a Lincoln Regional Artist Preview show now – Nov 26. A piece from each Lincoln artist will be on display as well as art representing the Sun City Ceramics School, and RockStar Music Academy. Opening reception Nov 10, free to attend!
STUDIOS TOUR

Placer County's biggest art tour is this month! 29th annual Placer Artists Studios Tour is free, and a fantastic time to experience art! See artist's demonstrations, meet the creators, and explore studios, art and music schools, and galleries! Even catch some Auburn Symphony musicians! The American cowboy heritage is preserved and promoted at the Cowpoke Fall Gathering! Enjoy cowboy storytelling, music, and verse that share the “cowboy way” at the heart of western traditions. Blue Goose event center in Loomis. Details and tickets:

Dress up for an evening of music and fun! Ticket includes a glass of champagne (or sparkling cider) and dessert buffet.
A night of inspiring music to celebrate all that Broadway is. With selections from "Something Rotten", "A Chorus Line", "Jagged Little Pill", "9 to 5", "Into the Woods", "Six", "Spamalot", and much much more. Proceeds benefit Roseville Theatre Arts Academy.

CLEAN CALIF GRANTS
Workshop Nov 3
Clean California Beautification Projects --provides funds to clean and beautify public spaces in underserved communities.

Local Grant Program funds projects for local and regional public agencies, transit agencies, tribal governments and nonprofit organizations.

State Beautification Program funds improve the aesthetics of public spaces with transformative beautification projects along the state highway system.

Lottery for the Arts is our Blue Line Arts biggest annual fundraiser. Proceeds fund the year-round art education programs. Artwork donations help provide the gift of creative learning to the next generation at our non-profit arts center.

ECONOMICS & PROSPERITY STUDY (AEP6)
Be included in this important study!
Are you a Placer County non-profit organization providing arts and cultural programs? If so, please ensure we include you in our database for this AEP6 study. The Arts Council of Placer County is proud to be one of 250 partners in this national study conducted in partnership with Americans for the Arts. The outcomes will change the conversation about arts and culture. The research will paint our cultural story in Placer County, and demonstrate the beneficial economic impact of the arts. This will also aid in the distribution of grant funding in the future.

Welcome New ACPC
BOARD MEMBERS!
The Arts Council of Placer County is delighted to welcome two new board members, Delgreta Brown and Gloria Beverage. This month we're pleased to introduce you to:
Delgreta Brown
Delgreta has been in the Creative Arts for over 10 years. The last 14 years have focused primarily on the Visual Arts. Additionally, she has a Creative Writing and Journalism background as a former newspaper Editor, published journalist and poet.

Fun fact : Delgreta's a roller skater! "I love roller-skating! It's a family tradition. We're very much into roller-skating culture and the roller-skating community."
