Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth
by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

Dear Prince Families:
The start of school is still a month away, and the publishing of our detailed reopening plan remains on schedule for one week from today. Until then, here is a summary of key topics contained in our plan to help keep you informed of our general approach to reopening:
- We will return to a traditional school environment on August 10th with several modifications that emphasize the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.
- Masks will be optional. All faculty and staff will be issued face shields, and their use will be voluntary.
- Faculty and staff will be required to report daily that they are symptom-free. Temperatures of students, faculty, and staff will be taken throughout the day by a preidentified list determined by our new full-time school nurse; select administrators will assist in this effort. We already have an abundant supply of touch-free temperature thermometers.
- We have increased our cleaning staff to facilitate the sanitizing of common touch surfaces like door handles, push bars, bathroom fixtures, etcetera, throughout the school day.
- Ample supplies of hand sanitizer will be distributed throughout all classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, etcetera, and students will be “trained” to use these products as we operate in this new normal.
- Clorox and Lysol wipes will be used by teachers to facilitate wiping down desks and common classroom surfaces throughout the day.
- All classrooms will be disinfected each night with Bioesque Disinfectant, which is 99.9 percent effective against the human Coronavirus.
- We have increased our cafeteria staff so food and drinks can be placed on students’ trays by a gloved, masked, and face-shielded food service worker. Flatware dispensers have been replaced by prepackaged flatware, and self-serve drink stations have been eliminated.
- Students will be socially distanced during lunch, and we will rotate students to eat lunch outside on tables in the pavilion.
- Visitors will not be allowed on campus for the first nine weeks of school, after which we will reevaluate this policy. Parents are not visitors and are allowed on campus.
- Chapel services will be socially distanced utilizing the spacious seating in the church’s worship center.
- Field trips and off-campus overnight spiritual retreats are canceled for the first nine weeks after which we will reevaluate this policy.
- Each student in PreK-12th grade will have a school-issued laptop, and we will offer hybrid online instruction for quarantined students. More details regarding online education will follow in our detailed plan.
- Athletics have been up and running since June, and we have learned a great deal about sanitation procedures and phase-in plans. Our athletic protocols will be applied to our physical education classes using the coaching staff as facilitators to ensure continuity in implementation.
- Band classes have been moved to the middle school theater at the church to facilitate improved social distancing over our current band room. Both band and choral music selections have been chosen to reduce exposure risks.
- Enrollment in the lower school has been capped to facilitate social distancing. We are now wait listing students in select grades, and we will open another class should the number of wait listed students allow it.
Over the past four months, our Campus Safety Committee has continuously reviewed and discussed information and recommendations from the World Health Organization, Center for Disease Control, Georgia Department of Public Health, American Academy of Pediatrics, Georgia Department of Education, National Association of Independent Schools, Southern Association of Independent Schools, Georgia Association of Independent Schools, and consulted with local healthcare providers in COVID-19 leadership positions. The information published by these organizations is legion; we have assembled a concise plan based upon science and common sense that is consistent with Prince’s culture.
As a community of believers, we must recognize and understand we are returning to a communal environment during a global pandemic for which no vaccine exists; there are a great many unknowns. One thing we do know is students will continue to contract this virus during the school year, and our procedures for responding to that scenario have been designed to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff remain at the forefront of our decision-making process.
Please remember, this is a summary of our detailed reopening plan, which will follow one week from today. All the faculty and staff are very eager to welcome your student back and return to a traditional school environment, and we thank you for your continued investment in a Christ-centered education.
With warm regards and in His service,
|

Dr. J. Josh Smith to Speak
at Prince 2020 Graduation Ceremony
|
|
Prince Avenue Christian School will hold the Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2020 on Friday, July 17th at 7:30 p.m. at the Prince Avenue Christian School football stadium. Dr. J. Josh Smith, senior pastor of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, will give the charge to graduates.
Pastor Josh began his ministry as senior pastor of PABC in 2018. Formerly, Josh was senior pastor of MacArthur Boulevard Baptist Church in Irving, Texas since 2006. Pastor Josh has ministered in over twenty-five countries, worked with international students, and served as a missionary in central Europe. His greatest passion is the exaltation of Christ and the advancement of Christ’s kingdom to the ends of the earth through the ministry of the local church. Pastor Josh received his Bachelors in Cross-Cultural Studies from Liberty University, a Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Andrea, have four daughters and one son. He loves reading, music, collecting LP’s, spending time with family, and being outdoors.
This year’s Prince senior class is the largest graduating class in the history of PACS with seventy-six graduates twenty-three of which began their education at Prince in first grade. Seventy-five graduates were accepted to a collective 194 colleges and have been offered more than 1 million dollars worth of scholarship money to attend college next year. Additionally, one graduate plans to enlist in the United States Marine Corps.
Eighty-eight percent of this year’s seniors took Dual Enrollment college classes and have 1,061 semester hours of college completed which amounts to 353 college classes. Sixty-nine percent of this year’s seniors took a collective total of eighty-two AP Classes. Many members of the Class of 2020 will begin college with almost enough hours to be classified as sophomores.
Seventy-five percent of this year’s graduating class participated in the international senior mission trip to Costa Rica while the rest of the class served in local missions. The Class of 2020 also includes many accomplished musicians, performers, and artists as well as eight athletes who signed to play sports at the college level.
Another highlight of the Prince graduation ceremony is the student speeches from the Valedictorian Jaden Drudge, Salutatorian Hunter Melton, and Epistle Award recipient Allie Carter.
In the event of inclement weather, the PACS graduation ceremony will be held in the PABC Worship Center with appropriate social distancing guidelines and live stream to other locations in the building. The ceremony can also be viewed on at www.PACSlive.com.

Important Athletics Updates
|
|
- The GHSA has decided to continue with the Third Phase of GHSA On-Campus Conditioning which can be viewed HERE.
- Parents of athletes, you need to go ahead and begin updating your student’s PRIVIT information that is required when we return. All families with a student-athlete are required to have a PRIVIT account where all GHSA forms need to be digitally filled out and signed for the new school year. This will be a much easier process this year for returning students. You will also be able to upload your child’s new GHSA physical directly into your PRIVIT account. You can access PRIVIT HERE. Students without current physicals and updated PRIVIT accounts will not be allowed to participate in any athletic activities beginning July 27th.
Here are some important reminders about the on-campus conditioning:
- Make sure your coach has you assigned to a workout group. Please contact your respective coach about your intent to participate if you haven’t already.
- Please do not show up more than ten minutes before your scheduled workout times. Wait outside your assigned workout area until your coach lets you in.
- Come dressed. Locker rooms are off-limits.
- Bring your own water. I suggest at least one gallon.
- When your session is over, please leave campus. Our intent is to prevent crossover interaction between different groups.
- You must stay with your assigned group for the duration of this phase of conditioning.
- Do not attend if you have had a fever or other Covid-19 symptoms in the last week.
