WELCOME - LETTER FROM THE BABC PRESIDENT
Dear Friends of the BABC,

I write this newsletter at the end of a month that has seen some of the worst fires in California’s history, a significant hurricane that made landfall in Louisiana, both the Democratic and Republican National Convention and increasing protests around the United States in the battle for equality and social justice not to mention the continued fight against COVID19 and all of the pain and suffering that this virus continues to cause. As our children return to school using their computers as their primary learning medium I am reminded of not only of the fantastic jobs that our teachers do but also of the patience that everyone requires to continue to move forward in the face of all of these challenges. Hope is the last thing to die and for as long as there is hope we will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger and more united than before.

September is an important month for the BABC as we prepare to host the 64th BABC Annual General Meeting, virtually, for the first time. As I made note last month our By-Laws dictate we need a quorum which is 51% of members. I therefore kindly ask that all BABC Members complete your Ballot/Proxy Letter voting for the slate of Directors to be elected. We hope you can join us on Wednesday, September 16th.

As is staple now, each month starts with our Member only virtual Happy Hour. Gary Brown, President of Furnished Quarters discussed the state of worldwide Global Mobility and Corporate Housing in the Covid-19 and post-Covid era, which was well received by all that attended. On September 9th, we will here from Jerry Erickson, President and CEO of Erickson Immigration Group where he will give his perspective from his leading global business immigration law firm.

August saw a record high attendance from our virtual events calendar to NCC Group's Emerging Technology Threats & Opportunities. An insightful panel led a dynamic discussion on what the the tech world will look like in 2030. A week later AssayCS’s 3-Part Workshop Series on Thriving Through Crises kicked off and was well received by all that partook. We already have a healthy number signed up for the Part-2 on 9/8 and Part-3 on 9/22 so make sure to sign up to those if you missed Part-1!

Aside from the BABC AGM, we are delighted to collaborate once again with the Australian American Chamber of Commerce and Penfolds for the Penfolds Wines Chef Tasting Series with Scott Huggins! (September 24th). A friendly reminder that you will need to register by September 14th in order to receive your 3 Bottle wine kit and Treasure box of delicious Australian and British snacks to go with the wine.

Keep an eye out on the BABC Events Calendar, as we have several events soon to be announced!

I must give heart warming thanks to our renewing members and upgrading members such as Osborne Clarke. Without your support, our members the BABC Northern California Chapter would cease to exist.

In these testing times, I hope you, your family, friends and communities are safe and continue to be there for one another.
