Then Jesus said to her in reply, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish."
And the woman's daughter was healed from that hour.

Happy 139th Anniversary St. Mary of the Lake!!
In 1877, Bishop Grace assigned Fr. Joseph Goiffon to minister to the Catholics of White Bear Lake and for four years Father Goiffon celebrated Mass most Sundays at the Markoe cottage. As the community grew, Bishop Grace instructed Fr. Goiffon to build a church in White Bear Lake. Father Goiffon and the parishioners built a 30' x 60' church on Bald Eagle Avenue between 1st and 2nd Street. Bishop Grace dedicated the church on the 15th of August 1881.

The special Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Mass (Anniversary Mass) will be recorded and available for viewing HERE Friday, August 14 after 5:00 PM. At the Mass, we gave thanks to God for those who have come before us and shared their time, talent and treasure in building this wonderful community. We also give thanks that we are the stewards of this legacy. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our patroness, may we be generous stewards, sharing our time, talent and treasure in building the kingdom of God in and through our parish.

There will also be a live streamed Saturday Mass at 5:00 PM for the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time. VIEW HERE
COVID-19 Preparedness Plans for Parish Life Center, Church and Frassati
Governor Tim Walz issued Executive Order 20-40 on April 23, 2020. His Order requires that each business in operation during the peacetime emergency establish a “COVID-19 Preparedness Plan.” Schools and churches are included in that Order. A business’s COVID-19 Preparedness Plan shall establish and explain the necessary policies, practices and conditions to meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) guidelines for COVID-19 and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards related to worker exposure to COVID-19. St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church has developed plans for the Parish Life Center and the church building. Frassati Catholic Academy, which leases the Parish Life Center from the parish, also has a preparedness plan. These plans will be posted to the St. Mary of the Lake website in the coming days.

Description of the Assumption of Mary Icon
Icons are said to be “written”, rather than painted or drawn, because they are meant to communicate spiritual or dogmatic teaching. Icon is the Greek word for image. It is used to describe these works of art, which are “windows into heaven” for us. Our icon was written for our parish by Nick Markell. This is his description of the icon. Learn More

JustBooks Summer Series Final Book!
The final book in our JustBooks series is Walk in a Relaxed Manner by Joyce Rupp. Joyce Rupp, a prolific author and member of the Servite Community, tells the story of the pilgrimage she took, along with her friend Tom, a retired priest, on the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain. Her memoir is filled with life lessons for us all. As she states in the book, “the Camino inspired me to allow the ups and downs of daily life to be the pilgrimage and adventure it really is. My desire in sharing this story with you is to have these life lessons stir up fresh enthusiasm for your life as they have for mine.” Join the conversation via ZOOM on Wednesday, August 19 from 6:30—8:00 PM.

Please register, so we can include you in the ZOOM invitation. Contact Kathryn Lien at kathrynannlien@gmail.com to learn more and to register.

Consider Remote Giving to Support Our Parish
There are currently three ways to give electronically:
  1. Monthly amount transferred from your bank account (click on the DONATE button on our website home page to find a form). It would be better to mail the form to us, since you need to include a voided check.
  2. Weekly, monthly, or one-time checks sent by your bank or other financial service organization (contact your bank to set up a plan that works for you). It is helpful to have your envelope number on the check your bank sends to us.
  3. Weekly, monthly, or one-time gifts charged to your credit card (click on the DONATE button on our website home page to set up your gift).

There is a way to give remotely that is not “high tech”: Simply mail us your check. Our address:
4690 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake, 55110.

Thank you so much for your support in this difficult time.
FRASSATI CATHOLIC ACADEMY NEWS
Chapel of the Beatitudes Progress
The chapel is coming together beautifully, and will be available to the students and staff of Frassati, the students and leaders in Faith Formation, the parish staff, and small faith sharing groups. The chapel will be named “Chapel of the Beatitudes”, recognizing that all of us are called to live the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-10) and because Pope St. John Paul II called Blessed Giorgio Frassati “the man of the Beatitudes.” We are excited for construction to finish and to begin using the chapel this fall!
