Vision:
Knowing we are One, we celebrate peace, compassion,
and equality for all.
Mission:
We empower people to live thriving spiritual lives.

From the Minister

Dear Unity Family,

We are living by Divine Appointment in the midst of some turbulent and uncertain times. The murder of George Floyd has become a catalyst in bringing about critical awareness around the racial disparity many of our black and brown brothers and sisters are experiencing. We must not turn a blind eye to this.

In Unity, our position on social action states:
  • Where there is oppression and hatred, we stand for justice and understanding, and for extending compassion, kindness and forgiveness to restore balance.
  • Where there is discrimination, we stand for inclusivity and equality. We pledge to be an advocate for the well-being, respect and civil freedom of every human being.
At this time, deep systemic racism exists in our country and until we as a nation acknowledge this reality and actively work to eradicate the structural constructs that keep it in place...we will continue to see the likes of what is happening right now with Mr. Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and so many others who have lost their lives as a result of unjust and harmful treatment.

In the upcoming weeks, I will be talking more about racism and exploring ways that we as a spiritual community can dialogue about it as well as discuss our inherent biases so that we can all be better allies in the name of Love and Kindness. I look forward to sharing these resources with you in due time and creating a space for meaningful studies and conversations. We've got work to do!

In the meantime, I want to share a podcast with you that was posted June 3rd (just yesterday) between Brené Brown and her guest, Ibram X. Kendi, a #1 New York Times bestselling author and the Director of the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University. This is a great conversation!

Kendi is the author of four books including
Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America, which won the National Book Award for Nonfiction, and the  New York Times bestsellers  How to Be an Antiracist and  Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You, co-authored with Jason Reynolds. His next book,  Antiracist Baby, will be published in June 2020.

There is much for which to be hopeful. We are the ones.

In Love and Unity,
Rev. Anne Tabor

Power of Wonder: Playfulness
Instructor:  Ev G. Godina
Cost:  $20    Location:  Hybrid
Start Date:   06/18/2020

Many spiritual seekers spend years being stuck, while distracted by chasing more information and living in their intellect instead of their heart.

Often, they feel that true spiritual awakening and growth is out of their reach, but they don't know why. Imagine if our life can reflect the innate attributes we had as children, where playfulness was our way of being and our resources of our imagination seemed unlimited.
What if we were to reclaim our power of wonder so that we can explore the unlimited within our dreams and challenges?

Within the course we will revitalize our Power of Wonder with tools, so that we can express our best intelligence and fulfill our best life.

The Gift of Anger
with Arun Gandhi and Victoria Etchemendy

From years of working personally with Arun Gandhi and his devotion to the path of non-violence he learned from his grandfather, Mahatma Gandhi, Rev. Victoria Etchemendy brings lessons Mr. Gandhi shared in his book, The Gift of Anger.

Compassionate Eating
with Victoria Moran

Not only has plant-based eating become the fastest growing nutrition shift, it brings with it a change in the way we look at ourselves and our planet. Victoria Moran, leads you through this self-paced course to help you understand how to adopt a plant-based diet easily and healthfully.

Relationships and the Enneagram
with Michael Naylor

Discover the doorways to deeper intimacy. Develop greater compassion and awareness for self and others, along with a more felt sense of connection with the Divine. Tap into your inherent gifts, and learn to let go of the conditioned patterns of your Enneagram types in this new self-paced course.

Introduction to the Enneagram
with Nhien Vuong

...This self-paced class invites you to learn more about the powerful system of sacred psychology that identifies nine distinct personality types.  Understanding the different lens through which we see the world helps us relate with greater love and compassion, enhanced peace and harmony, and bring profound healing and transformation to all our relationships

Reverend Anne Tabor, M.Div., is available by appointment for spiritual counseling sessions at Unity of Arlington in a safe and supportive environment. As an ordained Unity minister, Rev. Anne, offers spiritual counseling to individuals seeking
a deeper understanding of themselves and their divine power within to solve life's challenges. Spiritual counseling can help if there is a need for inspiration, crisis support, or healing in any area of your life.  Prayer and meditation are an integral part of Unity's spiritual principles, and an essential practice in realizing the answers we seek. We believe in the transformative power of affirmative prayer. You are a unique expression of God. Spiritual counseling will remind you of that!

Spiritual counseling is offered on a love offering basis. While no specific fee is expected or suggested, we do invite each person to leave a love offering. For more details, please call the church office 817-467-5151.

UNITY'S FIVE BASIC PRINCIPLES

Principle #1:
There is only one Presence and one Power in the Universe and in my life,
God the Good.

Principle #2:
Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within.
Their essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.

Principle #3:
Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking.
Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought.

Principle #4:
Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God Mind and therefore brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity, and everything good.

Principle #5:
Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, are not enough.
A person must live the truth he or she knows.

CORE VALUES

Spirit-Led:
Centered in the awareness of God's presence, we turn within for divine guidance in  all we do.

Love:
Love is our True Nature. We express the harmonizing power of love to
see good everywhere and in everybody. Love binds together the whole
human family.

Diversity:
We believe that all people are created with sacred worth. In a spirit of Unity,
we embrace each person as an expression of God grounded in truth and love.

Connection:
We live, love, and laugh from our Oneness with God. We honor our inter-connectedness with each other, with all life, and the earth.

Abundance:
God is our Infinite Source of Good. We gratefully demonstrate prosperity in all areas of our lives. We wisely use our wealth of resources to serve our spiritual community and the world.

Service:
We cultivate enlightened leadership by practicing the teachings of Jesus the Christ through sacred service. It is a blessing to serve locally and globally.

Integrity:
We consciously choose to practice living our Core Values and Unity Principles rather than simply professing them. We choose to communicate from the heart with authenticity and deliver on our commitments with reliability.
