UF Student Wins MetroLab Award for Project on Bridge Inspection
Sameer Mohata, a graduate student in UF's M.E. Rinker Sr. School of Construction Management, won the 2022 MetroLab Network Civic Research prize for his project titled "User Interactive Vision-based Bridge Inspection System". Together with Dr. Eva Agapaki, Director of the school's Digital Twins Lab, and Mr. Felix Padilla, Senior Bridge Inspector at the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Mohata conducted a survey of bridge inspection to understand the various technological needs related to bridge inspection. The results serve as guidelines for researchers to design automated systems for inspections. "This prize motivated me to continue this project and I hope we can successfully complete this project," said Mohata.
