Nothing in the Storm Drain…But Rain!

Rainwater flowing down the street
Cooler weather means that trees are shedding their leaves, but, while the colorful foliage is beautiful, they can cause water quality problems if they are not properly handled.

Please help protect our local streams and rivers from excessive nutrients by not raking leaves into a storm drain. Leaving leaves on the street or raking leaves into a stormwater inlet creates harmful pollution concentrations in our local streams and rivers that end up depleting oxygen that fish and other aquatic organisms need to survive. Not only do leaves contribute to stream pollution, but they can also cause localized flooding if they clog the storm drains and pipes.

Consider doing the following instead:
  • Mulch leaves with your lawnmower allowing those nutrients to absorb in your lawn
  • Rake your lawn and bag your leaves
  • Keep leaves off driveways, sidewalks, and other impermeable surfaces

Buy Bixby 2022
Buy Bixby 2022 Logo showing starts October 30th through December 8th
Join the Bixby Chamber of Commerce and the City of Bixby as we kick off the Buy Bixby season on October 30, 2022. The Buy Bixby program highlights the Bixby business community, while featuring a variety of merchants, products and services. The increase in sales tax collections helps the City of Bixby provide necessary services to its residents and merchants.

One lucky Buy Bixby holiday shopper will receive a $10,000 cash prize! Shop at participating Bixby businesses to collect tickets, and the winning number will be drawn on December 10 in downtown Bixby after the Bixby Christmas Parade hosted by the Rotary Club of Bixby. Local businesses can participate by becoming a sponsor and receive tickets, local exposure, and increased holiday sales.

The Buy Bixby program is one of the state's most successful holiday shopping programs! It is designed to build awareness of, and excitement about, Bixby businesses. The Buy Bixby program provides people within our community and throughout the region with greater exposure to what Bixby has to offer. It helps keep more of our local citizens' shopping dollars in our community while drawing in new shoppers from outside of our community. The most exciting incentive of this program is prizes during the most wonderful time of the year!
