We wrapped up the school year this past weekend and sent our seniors off to their next stage in life. We hope you find the opportunity to view some of the wonderful images celebrating our graduates on the

For our students who just completed their freshmen, sophomore or junior year, we hope you can take a moment to savor a well-deserved rest after a tumultuous second semester. Teachers are busy reviewing their final assessments, grades will be out soon, and the semester will officially be complete.
We all turn our attention to what is next.
A team of educational leaders and health officials have been tasked with creating the Pandemic Recovery Framework for San Mateo County schools, a detailed order that guides public and private schools in planning for fall semester opening in light of the COVID-19 health crisis. Serra will be using this guide and consulting with the Archdiocese of San Francisco Schools Department in planning for our August opening.
The Pandemic Recovery Framework contains "four pillars" that will guide the return to school, including 1. Health and Hygiene, 2. Face Coverings, 3. Physical Distaning and 4. Limiting Gatherings. While there is specificity in the guidelines in addressing these pillars, the document is not prescriptive, and must be adapted to each school site. We are also aware that the guidelines may change as new information because available and the situation in our community changes.
Serra has assembled a team that is meeting regularly to plan for all aspects of school. While the framework is obviously important, we want to look carefully at our college prep academic program, the community of brothers that makes Serra special, the support of teachers in working with your sons, and the student life programs critical to our mission that happen outside the classroom, including athletics, activities and campus ministry. The team will be composed of administrators, teachers, and community leaders.
You will have an important role in our planning. We will communicate regularly with you each week and will seek your input at critical times. In the coming days, we will be sending out a survey to solicit your feedback on important planning considerations.
We know this is daunting, but we are confident that we have a stellar team that will be able to make decisions in the best interest of our students, families and ultimately, our mission to develop men who exhibit the values of Serra. Please do not hesitate to contact us at any time with questions.
