Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you
and that you may be in good health,
just as it is well with your soul.

Dear friends,
My grandmother once told me that people can gain and lose many things in life, but losing one’s health comes at the highest price of them all. During this COVID pandemic, we need to reflect and discover ways to keep our minds and bodies healthy. Today I had a wonderful conversation with Dr. Gerry Kato, who is a member of Trinity. Dr. Kato has been instrumental in helping guide our diocese during this time of COVID-19, and we are grateful for his leadership.
Check out my conversation with Dr. Gerry Kato, and hear how he offers tips on maintaining our physical and mental health during this challenging time.

As we discussed in the video, there may be times that greater help might be needed. Dr. Kato offers the following resources that are available to everyone:
- Distress Helpline 1-800-985-5990 (Spanish 1-787-339-2663)
- National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK (8255)
- National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-7233 or text LOVEIS to 22522
- National Sexual Assault Hotline 1-800-656-HOPE (4673)
- The Eldercare Locator 1-800-677-1116
- Veteran’s Crisis Line 1-800-273-TALK
And as always, your clergy and staff at Trinity Cathedral are here to support you along life’s journey as well. The important thing to remember, above all, is that you are a beloved child of God. Help will always be readily available to you throughout all of life’s twists and turns. The presence of Christ among us calls us to look out for the well-being of one another. No one is far from the reach of a caring voice, a helping hand, and a cheerful and kind encourager. We walk this path of life together. No one is alone.
May it be well with your health as it is well with your soul!
In Christ’s love,

Canon Holly Herring Chosen for the Lilly Foundation Thriving in Ministry Cohort
|
|
They are like trees planted by streams of water, bearing fruit in due season, with leaves that do not wither; everything they do shall prosper. Psalm 1:3
|
|
Canon Holly has been chosen to participate in the Lilly Foundation Thriving in Ministry Cohort for the 2020-2022 experiential learning session. Invited to strengthen the uniqueness of her ministry and to continue building leadership capacity, Holly will participate, (80 hours, over a two year period) in a learning peer group initiative funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc. and offered through Virginia Theological Seminary. Thriving in Ministry provides mentored peer learning for Episcopal priests in specific contextual cohorts.
The Thriving in Ministry process integrates adult learning through individualized, focused learning goals, trained mentors who walk alongside the peer group, and, one-on-one mentoring. Thriving Peer Communities are times of prayer, reflection on our spiritual narrative, and renewed action for Christ’s incarnational love.
The Lilly Foundation, Inc. endeavors to help individuals (lay and ordained) reach their full potential, families to thrive, and communities to flourish through grants to a range of charitable organizations. The foundation believes in two potentially contrasting convictions: that tradition is an important resource and that fundamental rethinking often is necessary to respond effectively to new challenges and circumstances. Troy and Holly welcome conversations about deepening your commitment to spiritual formation and religious education.

Trinity Cathedral Cares Benevolence Fund
|
|
Dear Friends,
Your cathedral chapter has established a Benevolence Fund to provide financial support for individuals and families who have fallen on difficult times financially as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The scale of the coronavirus crisis is unmatched in recent history. It is a global pandemic that has reshaped society at every level and is reorienting our relationship to our community and to one another.
Our cathedral community has always rallied around members when they've experienced extreme hardship, and this is one of the ways that all of us can do something to help.
To that end, the cathedral chapter has established a restricted fund known as The Benevolence Fund to provide financial support for individuals and families who have fallen on difficult times financially as a result of or in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Whether people have lost jobs, had pay reduced, or are struggling to survive, the Benevolence Fund is designed to provide one-time payments to help those affiliated with Trinity Cathedral move through these unprecedented times.
We are the people of Trinity Cathedral, and daily, we live into our mission: Welcoming all to be transformed in Christ through worship, fellowship, and service.
