PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Greetings Daves Avenue Families,

Our Cool Cats had a blast beginning the week with Valentine’s Day on campus! It was a great day to spread extra kindness and joy.

STEAM & Social Innovation
Our LGUSD Strategic Plan identifies the need for learning environments to emphasize design thinking/inquiry-based learning, where students have the ability to creatively make projects more “STEAM-Y”. Many classes participated in a Valentines Mailbox Design Exploration. This is a perfect example of taking a traditional task or lesson and how we can add complexity through designing and building. Focusing on creativity, functionality, aesthetics, and innovation provides students an opportunity to design and shine! Look at these masterpieces from Room 26 and Room 27!

Facilities and Modernization
In preparation of the LGUSD Board decision on April 21 regarding playfields, the Facilities Committee and site administration are inviting you to a community input session. The latest LGUSD Board presentation is available here.

Please save the date and join our community at the next:
Daves Avenue Home & School Club Meeting on March 18, 2022 @ 9:00 A.M. in the MPR
OR
Daves Avenue School Site Council Meeting on March 30, 2022 @ 3:00 P.M. in the MPR

The facilities committee will present multiple options for our community playfield. Your input is important to help inform the LGUSD Board choice at the April 21 Board Meeting. Options and a decision matrix will be presented and discussed.

Remember, there is no school next week due to February recess. Wishing you a PAWSitively healthy week!

Kindly,
Jenna Mittleman, Principal

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
The Home & School Club would really love to bring back our annual end-of-year Carnival and Talent Show this year, but we need your help! We are seeking a Chair (or grab a friend and Co-Chair) to lead a committee that will coordinate food, games, and entertainment. The Carnival will take place at the end of May. It is usually our last big event of the school year and the kids love it! If you would like more information or are interested in this fun opportunity, please contact H&SC Co-VP Melissa Barragan.
