The Falcon Flyer - Website Edition

Greetings Rondout Families, Faculty and Friends,

Welcome December… It was great to see so many families at conferences this week.  Please take a moment to complete the post conference survey using the link in today’s flyer.

Hope you also had a chance to stop in at the PTSA book fair. We appreciate your support of this event. Thanks to Denise Beger and her team of volunteers that made it happen. Your support is appreciated.

As cold weather becomes the norm, it is important for our students to come to school dressed for the weather and outdoor activities. Everyone needs hats, gloves and warm coats/jackets. Boots and snowpants are also needed on snowy days. If your family needs assistance in providing this winter weather gear, do not hesitate to reach out to me via email. All requests will remain confidential. We want to be sure that all of our students can safely enjoy the outdoor activities that occur daily.

We look forward to a productive month as we move into the second trimester. Winter break is just around the corner and making the most of these next three weeks is a top priority. We have a special day of activities planned for the last day before break for all grades. More information will be coming your way soon regarding the plans for the day and ways that parents can be a part of the day.  K-5 will be enjoying “Cozy Day” and the Upper School will be focused on service with a trip to Feed My Starving Children that morning.  We look forward to a fun and productive day of activities.

Thank you for your continued partnership and engagement. Our strong home-school connection is a critical factor in each child’s success and the strength of our school community.

Take care…

Until next time…

Rondout's VFW Patriot's

Pen Essay

In October, Mrs. Kerrigan’s 8th grade social studies class worked on an essay called Patriot’s Pen sponsored by the VFW. This essay is conducted nationwide and gives students the opportunity to compete in a contest expressing their views on democracy. This essay has been a long standing 8th grade tradition to participate. The theme this year was: My Pledge to Veterans. For the surrounding area, Rondout School took 1st, 2nd & 3rd place! Luke Rasmussen came in 3rd place, Riley Danforth took 2nd place and Iker Barbella took 1st place. Iker’s essay will then go to the state competition. We wish him best of luck!

STAN'S Donut Truck is coming to Rondout on Friday afternoon December 16, 2022. This mini-fundraising opportunity will primarily benefit the Class of 2023's graduation fund. Donuts must be pre-ordered on-line and will be available for pick-up between 12:30 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. on December 16, 2022. Donuts will not be sent home with students but must be picked up by an adult.

The Importance of Dressing for Winter Weather

It's very important to wear winter clothes in order to stay warm. If you are under-dressed and you go outside, you can possibly get frostbite. At Rondout, if the temperature is less than 0˚F with the windchill, there will be indoor recess inside the gym, activities in the library or study hall for the Upper School. Please make sure to wear appropriate winter clothing, such as hats, coats, gloves, snow pants, and boots and make sure to label your child's clothing with his/her first and last name!
