LARGO FIRE RESCUE TO HOLD TWO HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS EVENTS
Largo Fire Rescue is hosting two hurricane preparedness events this month to help residents and businesses prepare for storm season amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

First, on Thursday, July 16 at 10:30am, we will offer a virtual Hurricane Preparedness webinar to help residents prepare for before, during, and after the storm. A live Q&A session will be available at the end of the presentation and attendees are encouraged to ask preparedness questions via the GoTo Webinar or on Facebook.

Second, on Saturday, July 25 at City Hall from 9-11am, we are offering a Drive Thru Hurricane Expo to our residents. LARGO TRI-CITY SPECIAL AREA PLAN ADOPTION TO BEGIN IN AUGUST
The City of Largo is proposing to adopt by ordinance the Largo Tri-City Special Area Plan (SAP) for the area of the US Highway 19 and East Bay/Roosevelt Boulevard. The Plan will activate the last of three major activity centers in Largo and portions of two multimodal corridors in order to promote redevelopment, infill and revitalization through the implementation of mixed-use land use strategies and multimodal transportation and other community improvements.

The adoption process will begin with a public hearing at the August 6 Planning Board meeting before continuing to the City Commission for approval. The Plan will also be reviewed by Forward Pinellas (Pinellas Planning Council), the Pinellas County BCC (Countywide Planning Authority) and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. Final adoption of the Plan is anticipated by December 2020.

On July 2, the Planning and Development Services Division sent out 2,100 public hearing notices to all of the affected property owners in the proposed plan area within the City’s jurisdiction and all properties within 500 feet of the affected properties. The Planning and Development Services Division Planner-On-Call is available to answer any questions from the public regarding the proposed Plan by phone at 727-587-6749 Ext. 7301 or email: AskAPlanner@largo.com

The proposed Plan can be viewed at the project website at: Largo.com/US19SAP and a hard copy of the plan is available for viewing at City Hall Planning and Development Services Division.
