Families got crafty and enjoyed some Tye Dye!

In a hands on workshop called "Triple P in Action," parents were encouraged and coached on giving positive praise. Staff walked around and supported parents while they supported their children. All of the children who participated, created their own Tye Dye shirt! Each of the shirts turned our just as beautiful and unique as each one of our kiddos!

Update on Transitions Youth Program

Last month FaithWorks launched a brand new youth program aimed at helping end generational poverty and abuse. Generously funded through Shasta County's ACE's Resiliency and Hope Fund and under contract through The Community Foundation of the North State, this program has taken off, full speed ahead!

Adverse Childhood Experiences or ACES

With the help of partnering LMFTs, we started screening for Adverse Childhood Experiences at Francis Court

Of those screened, our average adult ACES score is 8 and average child score is 5. The good news is we are now introducing targeted strategies to help reduce the likelihood of future occurrences!

The treatment strategy consists of education to help residents reduce, recognize and respond to the role that past or present stressors may be playing in their lives. For both children and adults, addressing current stressors, increasing the total dose of buffering and protective factors such as safe, stable, and nurturing relationships and environments are associated with decreased negative affects of high ACES.

Our Youth = Our Future

With a new emphasis on youth, we are incorporating new components to our already established supportive services

We are slowly introducing the kids to the new program. Eventually, each child will have a regular "one on one" or in some cases siblings will meet together with Emely, our Youth Advocate. The case management team makes recommendations for subject matter for each "one on one." The subject matter for these meetings can vary from emotional regulation, life skills (money management, maintaining schedules, nutrition/meal planning) spiritual support, developing a support system, literacy support and much more! The next layer of support is including the parent on the plan. We know these kids have endless potential and we are excited to be here to help them along in their journeys!

New classes and work shops are being offered also!

We are keeping it fun and incorporating crafts and activities whenever possible

We want to let the kids be kids and to keep them excited about learning, we need your help!

We have already purchased some games, crafts and activities but we are moving through supplies quickly. We have also created a rewards system for our teens who have displayed the most resistance to the new program. They have lots of other things going on in their lives so we want to entice them to come to groups and meetings.
