For over 25 years, the WorkLife Program has hosted the Family Care & Volunteer Resource Fair at the end of May. Due to social distancing protocol, the Fair has been canceled this year. An invitation was sent out to the agencies and organizations that typically participate to provide information for a "virtual" fair. Established in 1987, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death. AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. AFSP creates a culture that’s smart about mental health by engaging in the following core strategies:

OASIS (Older Adult Services and Intervention Systems) is a non-profit outreach program for adults 60 years and older.  All of our services are free of charge. We are sponsored by Catholic Charities and offer assistance to all persons regardless of race, religion or income level. It is our goal to support seniors in their desire to remain independent and at home as long as possible. OASIS is a comprehensive human service agency that provides a variety of services to the frail elderly of Ventura County:  
  • in-home services and case monitoring
  • information and referral
  • assistive devices and adult incontinent supplies

We provide relocation services to overwhelmed moving seniors in California, Phoenix and Las Vegas. Our services include a no-obligation Move Planning Meeting with an employee Move Manager which includes a complete floor plan of the new home; an estimate for our services and the moving truck and referrals for disposition of unwanted items. If accepted, our services can also include sorting and downsizing throughout the current home, packing in our custom boxes, mover arrangements and utility transitions; and, complete resettling in the new home -- down to pictures hung, beds made and trash removed! Most local moves are 1-3 days and our clients can elect to sleep in their own bed every night.

The River is very involved in the community of the City of Ventura. We have a Food Pantry that is open on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. One Sunday a month we also host a health clinic in partnership with Community Memorial Hospital.
We visit predetermined motels in the area on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month and bring lunches, offer encouragement and a ride to church if they would like. 
On the first Friday of the month, our team goes downtown to Santa Clara and California Streets and we offer conversation, free pizza, water, coffee and a ride home to those who are coming out of the local bars. No other agenda, but to keep people safe. 
In the summers we help the Downtown Ventura Partners with their Movie Nights by providing free theater-style popcorn and bottled water. 
We are a church who truly cares and gets involved in our community!
