Prayer Guides
We hope you will take time to submit your confidential prayer requests either online at ChristCovenant.org/members/prayer or by email at prayer@christcovenant.org. Your pastors and staff are continually praying for you!

We have new prayer guides for your use that can be found at christcovenant.org/prayer. Each prayer guide is printable after downloading and can be found below.
Ministry Highlight: Shepherdess Ministry
During the evening service, we will recognize our women who have recently completed training to become a Shepherdess at Christ Covenant. Our Shepherdesses serve our church in a vital way by assisting our pastoral staff and leadership as they come alongside women in the congregation who are in crisis. Those being recognized tonight are the following ladies:
Andrea Johnson
Jen Litowski
Peggy Maye
Angela Pacey
Susan Rice
Amy Wallace
Debra Yeatts
Thank you for your continued ministry at Christ Covenant. To learn more about the Shepherdess Ministry, please contact either Teresa Caldwell (tcaldwell@christcovenant.org) or Ginni Larkins (glarkins@christcovenant.org).
Members Going into Missions
One of the great privileges and joys Christ Covenant experiences is to send its own devoted workers to the mission fields of the world. We are happy this Sunday morning to prayerfully commission two families who are transitioning into full-time ministry. We encourage you to join us in prayer for the Chin and the Bae families as they serve the Lord in these exciting ways.
Clifford & Rose Chin
Clifford and Rose Chin have been longtime members of Christ Covenant Church. Having served at Covenant Day School for 20 years, the Lord has recently called Clifford to a new ministry opportunity. Beginning in July 2021, Clifford will be serving locally at the Charlotte Chinese Baptist Church as the pastor of their English ministry. His new responsibilities will include preaching, teaching, and shepherding the congregation. Clifford and Rose covet your prayers as they transition into this new role. Please be in prayer that the Lord will grant them much grace and fruitfulness as we begin this new work for His Kingdom.
Rich & Susan Bae
Rich and Susan Bae, with their children Maddie (15), Nathan (13), and Solomon (10), will be leaving this fall to serve long-term in Tokyo, Japan, in partnership with both SIM and Mission to the World (MTW). They will be initially focusing on language and culture learning for the first two years as they research opportunities and network with other Christians. Japan’s evangelical population is only about 0.5%, making it one of the largest unreached people groups. They will be a part of a Tokyo church-planting team, providing administrative support, and prayerfully seeing what ministry opportunities the Lord opens up for them. Their passions are evangelism, discipleship, and member care in missions.

Prior to coming to Charlotte four years ago, they served for 10 years in Asia where they planted an international church, discipled local and international believers, and evangelized to locals, in addition to doing medical work as family physicians. For the last three years, Rich worked in the SIM USA office as Vice President of Mobilization, Recruitment, Training, and Communications. Mask Sections Updated for June 20
What a blessing worshiping together on Sunday is. Our leadership continues to evaluate our needs in terms of mask-required and mask-optional sections. For this Sunday, June 20, our mask-required sections will be the back two sections colored in purple in the diagram below for the morning worship. The majority of the sanctuary is mask optional with no social distancing in place.

During evening worship there will no longer be a mask-required section. There should be adequate space for us to respect the needs of others. Please be considerate of those sitting around you who are wearing masks and prefer social distancing.

Envision Capital Campaign
It’s not too late to turn in your pledge card for the Envision Capital Campaign! You can pick up either a booklet or a brochure and a pledge card to learn more about the many upgrades and changes we hope to accomplish through Envision! Both the booklet and the brochure have pledge cards that can be filled out and submitted. Pledge cards can be turned in at the offering boxes located inside the sanctuary at the main, south, north and main balcony exits. You can also make a pledge online at christcovenant.org/envision. We currently have 46% of family units participating and $685,908 pledges toward our goal of $1,500,000.
Ways to pray for Envision
We invite you to join us in praying for our upcoming Envision Capital Campaign. Here are specific ways you can join us in prayer:
  1. The Project – That we would be grateful to our God with what He gifts to us for Envision (I Corinthians 4:7).
  2. The Church – That we would be built up together as a body and that we would reach unity in the faith (Ephesians 4:12&13).
  3. The Mission – That we would see Envision as a means to help us in the Great Commission as we invite others to Christ and into life within our church family (Matthew 28:18-20).
Summer Online Sunday School
We gain encouragement and worthy models of faith when we look to those who have followed Christ before us. In June and July we will get to hear from our pastors about the lives of various Christian men and women and what we can learn from them today. This week Pastor Tom Groelsema brings us an online Sunday School about John Newton. Last week, our Senior Pastor Kevin DeYoung taught about Bernard of Clairvaux. You can find this Sunday School class on our YouTube, Vimeo , Facebook or christcovenant.org/christian-biographies/.
HisAbilities Event on June 19, 2021
Hey HisAbilities Friends! We are excited to invite you to gather & visit with one another at Colonel Francis Beatty Park on Saturday, June 19, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm in Shelter 2 next to the playgrounds. Ice cream and brownies will be provided. If you are able to join us, please let us know by sending an RSVP to hisabilitiesrsvp@gmail.com.
Monthly Day of Prayer is Tuesday, June 22
Please consider participating in the Monthly Day of Prayer on Tuesday, June 22. There are two ways you can participate. One is to come in-person for your prayer time to room 105 in the worship center from 7:30 am-9:00 pm. Prayer guides are provided for you in the prayer room. Another option is to pick a time slot and pray where you are, whether that’s home or work. The day is divided into 30-minute segments for individuals to sign up and pray for supported workers and for the needs of the congregation. You can select the time that best fits your schedule by clicking here to help us cover the day in prayer.

We also hope you will take time to submit your confidential prayer requests either online at ChristCovenant.org/members/prayer or by email at prayer@christcovenant.org. Prayer cards may be found in the pews and in the lobbies and may be turned in at one of the offering boxes located inside the sanctuary by the main exits. Your pastors and staff are continually praying for you!
Celebrate Pastor Bernie Lawrence on June 27, 2021
We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating Pastor Bernie Lawrence on Sunday, June 27, during the evening worship service and having a reception for him immediately following worship in the Community Life Center (CLC). We hope you will save the date and make plans to celebrate Pastor Bernie Lawrence, who was our Senior Associate Pastor and who served Christ Covenant Church for thirty years.
Remember your Name Tag on Sundays
Name tags help us all to learn faces & names. Also, if a guest needs help or directions, they are more likely to ask someone wearing a name tag.

We hope you’ll remember to wear your name tags on Sundays! If you have lost yours, come to the information desk in the main lobby to request a new one. We are happy to help!
Registering your Child for Fall Sunday School
We are excited to be planning a Fall Sunday School Kick-off for all ages on August 29 with a return to in-person Sunday School. Since we have not had Sunday School in-person for some time, we are asking all families to register their children for Fall Sunday School. This will greatly help our Children’s ministry know how to plan and how to staff all children’s programs. We also ask that you register each child entering fifth grade and younger online by clicking here. We are looking forward to having your child back in children’s Sunday School!
