Meet Kayla Saunders
Hi, my name is Kayla Saunders. I graduated from Independence High School in 2011 and Concord University in 2015 with a bachelor’s in business administration – accounting. I have previously held jobs in the marketing and management fields, and most recently one in the realm of HR payroll. Stacy M. Reikowsky, Ph.D.
Congratulations to Dr. Stacy Reikowsky, Assistant Professor of History and Instructor of Geography and American Government on completing her doctoral program!

About Dr. Reikowsky:
"I am originally from Norman, Oklahoma where I received my Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Oklahoma and decided to make history education a lifelong career. I went on to earn my Master of Arts in History from the University of Central Oklahoma then relocated to Fargo, North Dakota to pursue a Ph.D. in History at North Dakota State University. Both my undergraduate and graduate studies have centered on American history with special interest in the evolution of civil rights, social justice, and the role of the federal judiciary throughout the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. I was fortunate to join the New River CTC community to begin teaching full-time in 2017 while finishing the final stages of my doctoral program. In addition to teaching U.S. history, I thoroughly enjoy leading students through explorations of world civilizations, geography, and political science. I am a running enthusiast and also love spending time outdoors riding my horse, Iggi, or hiking the beautiful trails of West Virginia with my dog, Wells."
New River CTC's first National Registry Emergency Medical Responder class
New River Community and Technical College conducted a National Registry Emergency Medical Responder class recently. This class was the first class of its kind that the college has offered, and it was a monumental class for several reasons. This was the first solo class for EMS Programs Instructors Matthew Hellems and Brent Hellems, and it was held completely off-campus at the Quinwood Volunteer Fire Department. Participants were from both Rainelle and Quinwood Volunteer Fire Departments in Western Greenbrier County.

This class exceeded the requirements of the West Virginia Office of EMS and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and was completed in ninety hours. All participants have passed their psychomotor testing and are pending their cognitive test completion. Upon the passing of the cognitive test, they have all met the requirements of Emergency Medical Responder Initial Certification policies and procedures of the West Virginia Office of EMS.

Chief Dwane Hellems of QVFD said "This education has opened the opportunities for us to provide life-saving skills to our very rural community as we grow our services."

Raymond Frost has been busy at the MCC campus trimming trees, shrubs and bushes around the campus grounds, including the parking lots and walkways.
Brandon Lemon and Justin Wyco have been working at the ATC on cutting the grass, trimming and clearing around the two big pounds. Dave Shrader joined the team by using the heavy equipment to remove brush and debris from the front pond.
