Early Voting Begins October 20 | Election Day November 8
Campaign Weekly Update
On the 2022 general election ballot, City of Charlotte voters have the opportunity to approve a $226 million bond referenda package that will fund construction and revitalization of transportation corridors including streets and sidewalks, more affordable housing, and improvements to neighborhoods in established and emerging high-growth areas. At end end of your ballot, please vote YES ✅ for all three bonds: $146.2 million for streets, $50 million for housing and $29.8 million for neighborhoods.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Trick-or-Treat Traffic Teams 🎃
It's that time again — time to put on a Halloween costume and campaign for the city bonds! What's now become campaign tradition, on Halloween morning, teams of vote YES supporters will be deployed across the city to raise awareness about the city bonds on the ballot. We're asking committee members, elected officials and supporters to volunteer from 7:30 to 9 a.m., Monday, Oct. 31, at various predetermined locations and hold up signs for passersby.

Halloween costumes are encouraged (wink, wink), although not required. The event will be canceled in the case of inclement weather. If you're interested, please email info@voteyesforbonds.com.
SPOTTED: Bonds Supporters at the Polls 🗳️
For those who have voted early (in person) already or have been watching our social media channels, you may have been introduced to our vote YES cardboard crew. Our life-size supporters are 'working hard' at the early voting locations to catch voters' eyes and invite them to vote YES for the bonds at the end of the ballot. Each cutout is equipped with a customized QR code that, when scanned, will play a special message from that person.

Keep an eye out for Mayor Lyles and volunteers Rai, Ali, Barrett, Tracy and LaWanda, and if spotted, please snap a selfie and tag us (#VoteYesForBonds)! And make sure you're following us on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

The Charlotte Observer Endorsement
Last week, The Charlotte Observer's editorial board ran their endorsement for all three city bonds on the ballot.

There are few things on the Charlotte/Mecklenburg ballot that come with less drama than bond referendums. Voters usually — although not always — approve them with wide margins, and for good reason. Our city and county are growing and thriving, and with that growth comes the need to attend to infrastructure and schools...voters can do their part by voting yes on the bonds referendums.

Project Spotlight: Bridges
On the ballot is $146.2 million for the streets bond to fund street and intersection projects, upgrade traffic control systems, improve walkability and pedestrian safety, and repair and construct bridges, sidewalks and bikeways. By voting YES for bonds, $5 million of this funding will go toward repairing and replacing bridges.

This funding will ensure:
  • 200+ bridges are safe and well maintained
  • Bridges are inspected every two years
  • Required bridge repairs are complete
  • Bridges are replaced as needed

Frequently Asked Question
Q: Bottom line, why should I vote for these bonds?
A: The Charlotte that we enjoy today is due to the investments we made in the past. The city we will enjoy in the future will come from investment we make today. Meeting Charlotte’s infrastructure needs is vital to our region’s health and sustaining our reputation as a great place to live, work and play. To support a better Charlotte, vote “yes” for all three bond referenda on this year’s ballot.
