November 2022

Chief's Welcome

It’s had to believe the holiday season is already upon us. I know many of our supportive residents will be heading out of town to visit family and loved ones.

Please don’t forget to use our effective Vacation Watch program. Once you sign up, our Patrol Officers will come by to check your residence to make sure it is safe and secure. Please fill out all of the pertinent information we need to know before we check your home.

Officers will also be out in force this holiday season watching our shopping centers in an effort to prevent entering autos and to detect and deter DUI drivers. Please help us by securing your vehicles and do not leave your valuables (wallet, credit cards, laptop, tablet, or weapons) unattended in your vehicle while at your residence or if you are out and about in our City. Also, if you or a family member have a little too much to drink, there are numerous ride shares at you fingertips. Please don’t chance drinking and driving for your safety and for the safety of other motorists on our roadways.

These are just a few tips to help all of us continue the very good quality of life we have here in Johns Creek. As always, if you need us, please don’t hesitate to call 911.

~ Chief Mark Mitchell

JCPD participates in Cricket Tournament

Chief Mark Mitchell participated in the ribbon cutting and coin toss for the inaugural Giving Thanks Cricket Tournament at Shakerag Park over the Thanksgiving weekend. The tournament raised $7,700 for the Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation (PSF). Thanks for all the support!

Did You Know: Bicycle Laws

To promote multi-modal transportation and bicycle use, City Council recently amended the City Code to allow kids 18 years old or younger to ride bicycles on sidewalks.

From the code: Bicycles may be operated on a public sidewalk regardless of width for persons 18 years of age or younger. Whenever any person is riding a bicycle upon a sidewalk, that person shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian and shall give an audible signal before overtaking and passing the pedestrian.

Everyone can operate a bicycle on a public multi-use trail at least 8 feet in width.

Don’t forget: give an audible signal before passing a pedestrian.
