Letter from the Principal
|
|
For the first time in a long time, things are somewhat back to normal. We are grateful to be in person getting back to normal routines. The athletic programs are playing and winning! Our students are settled in and doing great things also. We have adapted to yet another new normal and things are running smoothly.
Our students are working hard, welcoming new students, and feeling like we are in a routine again. With all the turmoil we have had in the past year, we are happy to be in school and with each other. While we are looking forward to Fall Break, we are grateful for the normal feel of school.
We are still disinfecting daily and deep disinfecting over the weekend. We are grateful our students are willing to wear a mask. So far we are doing great with only one reported positive case on campus since our return. Our students are thriving and learning!
We look forward to bringing back Fall Festival and Forthcoming. Be on the lookout for more information. Preparations are in the works for a great time at our annual Fall events.
Our first PIE meeting was this week and it was very successful, even though we were meeting on Zoom. We talked about future events and making final plans for Fall Festival. Be on the lookout for updates as we move forward. We are grateful for our parent help and are excited about being able to welcome parents back on campus.
Proud to be a Knight,
Marsha Cawthon

We had our first PIE meeting virtually on Tuesday of this week. It was so exciting to see close to 60 parents attend the meeting and eager to volunteer! We recorded the meeting in case you missed it. To access the recording and information about how to get involved in a PIE committee, join the PIE Bloomz page with code: HZ42DG.
If you are planning to volunteer on campus, we will need you to fill out the volunteer background check (see the link below).

At Trivium, our teachers work extra hard to make learning hands on, fun, and applicable to the real world. Science should be heavily anchored in exploration and experiments. In 3rd grade science with Mrs. Pechacek, students studied force, motion, and friction by bowling on three different surfaces and comparing results. What a fun way to make the science come alive!
|
|
We're also excited to bring the 4 H club to Trivium Academy, sponsored by Mrs. Pechacek and Ms. Coco!
What is 4-H you say? It stands for 4 H's...head, heart, hands, and health.
I pledge my head to clearer thinking,
My heart to greater loyalty,
My hands to larger service,
and my health to better living,
for my club, my community, my country, and my world.
4-H club is a place where students in 3rd grade through 12th grade complete hands-on projects in areas like food, shopping, science, animals, gardening, and public service. And that's just a few! 4-H uses adult volunteers to guide and mentor students through projects. Here’s a quote from 4-H.org, “4-H is delivered by Cooperative Extension—a community of more than 100 public universities across the nation that provides experiences where young people learn by doing. For more than 100 years, 4-H has welcomed young people of all beliefs and backgrounds, giving kids a voice to express who they are and how they make their lives and communities better.”
Being a 4-H’er is much like the mouse from the book “If you Give a Mouse a Cookie” If you give a 4-H’er an egg, they will want to learn how to cook it. When they cook it, it will make them wonder where it came from. They will want to learn all about Chickens. When they learn about Chickens their County Agent will tell them about the State Fair. The 4-H’er will take the chickens to the Fair. If the 4-H’er goes to the Fair, they might see a cow. The cow will make them want to learn all about cows. Learning about cows will make them wonder about how to use milk and meat when they cook. So, the 4-H’er will go back to the kitchen to learn.
Our first meeting is October 27th at 3:45pm (immediately after carpool)
Contact Mrs. Coco or Mrs. Pechacek for more information and how you can become a volunteer.

Your Knights are off to a hot start! The JV volleyball team had two road wins last week over Founders Frisco and IL Garland. They look to continue their winning ways this week with home games tonight and Thursday at 6:30.
Our JV flag football team started the season off with a commanding win over Harmony Innovation and backed it up with a win over Founders Frisco. The JV men are playing at home this week on Tuesday at 5:00 and Thursday at 6:30 here at our home field.
Our middle school flag football team started their season off fast with wins over STEM and Founders Carrollton last week! They play this week on Thursday at home at 5:30 and Friday away at Founders Corinth.
Our middle school girls are ready to get their season started tonight at 5:30 against Imagine International and Thursday at 5:30 against Leadership Prep.
Our Forthcoming game is Monday, October 18th at 6:15 at our Trivium field. T-shirts went on sale yesterday and will continue until Thursday at noon. For those who were wondering why we call it forthcoming, that's what you call your homecoming game before you have alumni to come home. We'll have our first homecoming in the fall of 2023!
Currently our volleyball games are not open to the public, but we are hoping that our bleachers will be repaired and we can welcome volleyball families to come cheer the girls on after fall break.
Flag football games are open to all Knight fans! Come on out and support your Trivium Knights!
Here is the link to purchase a shirt. Orders close on Thursday! https://triviumacademytx.com/spirit

Counseling Conversations
Pumpkin spice and everything nice?! Wait, What!? It's nearly October?! Is it just me or has fall just popped out of nowhere? As we are going through our second year of our "new normal," I have found that I lose track of time and my internal calendar is off by a few months. Anyone else feeling this way?
Being Present
As we are entering into our Fall and Holiday Season....and fall break (whoop!) I would like to take the opportunity through our newsletters for counseling tips and tricks. This week and as we enter fall break, here are some helpful tips to be present:
- Limit screen time- We depend on our phones and technology for so many things like work, school, socialization, entertainment, and sometimes it is even a welcomed distraction, that we (kids especially) loose track of social skills. Idea: Limit phone/technology use at certain times of the day, encourage family time, being outside, connecting with others
- Giving your full attention- Set aside time during your day to truly connect with your child. Idea: Carve out a weekly time, approx. 20 min for each of your children (also a great idea for your partner). Find something in common (cook breakfast together on the weekend, have a Starbucks run, take a walk to the park). If your children are younger, set aside 20 minutes each week and play.
- Give yourself time- you deserve time for self-care too. Idea: Make it a priority to carve out time for self-care. Not enough time in the day? Make it a family event! Everyone has 20 minutes for Self-Care without technology. :)
- Host Family Meetings Regularly- This is a great way to sit down and talk to one another about what has been going on at school, home, and work. Go around and share something that everyone is thankful for, things everyone is working on, special activities coming up, meal plans for the week, etc. Idea: Create a night where it becomes a tradition. Check in time at the beginning and later a game night.
Need more ideas? Do you have a topic you are needing help with? I am happy to help. Please email me at ginger.story@triviumacademytx.com
