As we look forward to having our students back on campus tomorrow, we wanted to update our families on what we are doing to try and help keep Trivium Academy a safe place for our students and staff members.
Every Monday, we will still report the number of positive cases to the Texas Department of State Health Services for the prior seven days, and we will stay in touch with Denton County Public Health. We will continue posting notifications in specific Bloomz classrooms/groups of positive cases in affected classrooms and/or extracurricular activities. We will also conduct contact tracing where possible, and you may receive a separate notification if your child has been in close contact with a student and/or staff member who has tested positive.
We are working on a remote conferencing plan for students who need to isolate due to a COVID-19 positive test or quarantine because of a close contact exposure. These students will be able to continue learning from home and get attendance credit while participating in daily live Zoom conferences with a Trivium teacher for the duration of their quarantine period.
As you know, we have already returned to a higher level of COVID protocols on campus in order to keep our Knights as healthy and safe as possible during these difficult times.
What we are doing:
- asking all staff and students to please wear masks (This is not a mandate, but we are strongly urging all to wear masks. It's the right thing to do to try and help protect our community.)
- reminding students wearing masks to wear them correctly
- working in classrooms to spread groups out as much as possible
- collecting seating charts from teachers in order to assist in close contact tracing
- limiting small group lessons to 10 minutes or less
- removing soft surfaces that cannot be easily disinfected
- cleaning desks and high touch areas frequently during the day
- requiring hand sanitation upon entering classrooms throughout the day
- covering the water fountains - please send a refillable bottle that can be refilled at our station by the cafeteria
- disinfecting classrooms on the weekend and during the week as needed
- eating lunch in the classrooms to lessen exposure to other groups
- closing the campus to visitors and volunteers until rate of positive cases decreases
What you can do to help:
- encourage your child to wear a mask at school
- watch closely for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19
- keep your child home and contact your physician if you notice any signs or symptoms
- quarantine your child at home if there is a close contact exposure at home
- email attendance@triviumacademytx.com and Tori Maki at tori.maki@triviumacademytx.com with any positive test results so that we can continue to track cases
The other question we continue to hear is about a remote learning option for this school year. As previously stated, we are working on a plan for students who need to quarantine to temporarily participate in remote conferencing. We are not planning to offer a fully virtual option. The state has set a guideline that only 10% of a school's population can participate in a fully virtual option, along with a list of other requirements that do not make this a viable option for our campus.
Due to the four extra days built into our schedule in minutes, students will only need to make up one day. On October 11 students will attend school instead of having Parent Teacher Conference Day. Teachers will post a sign up schedule in Bloomz for parent conferences between the dates of October 11- October 29.
We will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide updates if the Public Health Guidance from TEA or Gov. Abbott changes or if a Special Session of the State Legislature provides any new avenues for us to explore.
