At MUSM, we're taking many steps to address concerns related to the educational upheaval you are experiencing as a result of COVID-19. Here are answers to frequently asked questions related to the Class of 2021.

Q. What is the status of the Step 2 CK exam?
A. The USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills exam has been suspended for the next 12 - 18 months. The CIC will address this issue at its next meeting.

Q. Will we be able to take the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK exam at Mercer?
A. We have applied to the NBME to be a testing center for both the Step 1 and Step 2 exams. The NBME has not decided on which sites will participate in the phase 2 of their plan to expand USMLE testing.

Q. Why are we going forward with the CPEX exam and what is the timing?
A. Our goal is to provide the necessary curriculum and experiences that will prepare you for the clinical challenges you may face as a future physician and the CPEX exam is an integral part of that curriculum. We will continue with CPEX as scheduled with some minor changes that include the use of telemedicine and virtual patients. Case and schedule details will be available soon.

Q. Does the policy governing away rotations during this pandemic apply to me?
This policy only applies to rotations in which a student travels to a distant site. If this affects your rotation schedule, you are able to take virtual away rotations. These virtual rotations are handled through VSAS. If you plan on doing a virtual away rotation, please email Ms. LaQuanta Hamilton  and make sure that it is approved. The Office of Academic Affairs will determine if the virtual away rotation is approved.
