Keeping Up With The EDC
The Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation announces the Step Forward Initiative to empower Women-Owned Businesses of Prince George's County.

This technical assistance program is designed to assist women-owned businesses in getting the right connections in order to accelerate their business growth.

Ten businesses will be selected to participate in this 6-month program focusing on access to capital and the insight needed to complete a successful loan application package.

The application portal closes Friday, November 26th.

SAIC is a leading-edge Digital Engineering company charting courses for all branches of the US Military, the Intelligence Community, Space Force, NASA, NOAA, and other Civilian Agencies. They provide a wide range of mission support services, including engineering, integration, analytics, program management, artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital engineering and transformation, cyber, cloud, software, corporate IT services, and leadership. SAIC's has 26,000 workers all over the County, from Beltsville, College Park, Hyattsville, and Riverdale, to Andrews Air Force Base with offices in Lanham and Upper Marlboro.
 
Many of the projects managed by SAIC are located at the Goddard Space Center in Lanham where they are the primary contractor on the Omnibus Multidiscipline Engineering Services II (OMES-II) contract. OMES-II is one of Goddard's major contracts, providing engineering services to the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program, a new generation of operational polar-orbiting environmental satellite systems.
 
Why Prince George’s County? SAIC reps tell us this is where the action is! The missions and projects that are in the works at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, as well as NOAA’s Satellite Operations Facility are the places to be in Maryland to have integral roles in leading the industry in the development and deployment of cutting-edge technologies for capturing, analyzing, and leveraging earth, weather, and space science for the betterment of human-kind. For example, the OSAM-1 (and beyond) mission will demonstrate how the use of robotics for servicing our nation’s national space assets to further missions beyond current limitations—will be a historic step forward for the aerospace industry as a whole. Robotics engineering is probably some of the coolest work being done in the industry today—and it’s being done right here in Prince George’s County!
