Lyon's August Updates
Hello Lyon Families,

What a wonderful first week back to seated instruction! We are so happy to have students and staff under one roof again. We also appreciate the grace you are offering to both the office staff and teachers as we navigate new territory with masking, sanitizing, and social distancing.

The smiles we see, the happy eyes that are shining, the laughter and learning are all worth the inconvenience of the "newness" around Lyon. There is no better place!

Please skim the following newsletter as we have a few helpful reminders to ensure our 2nd week of learning continues to be successful!

Stronger Together,

Mrs. Casey Mitchell, Principal
Mrs. Leanne Gove, Assistant Principal
Don't forget that tomorrow is Lyon's first Early Release of the year! Dismissal will be at 2:30 p.m.
How Does the Car Lane Work?
Please refer to the map on our building website for pick-up and drop off procedures. The pick-up process for students is typically completed within 13-15 minutes from dismissal. It is important parents do not begin to join the car line for dismissal prior to 3:15 p.m. as to avoid traffic congestion.

Morning Car Lane closes at 8:25 a.m. If you arrive after this time you will need to drive to the front of Lyon and walk your child into the office.
How Do I Make Changes to My Child's After School Plans?
You can:
  • send a note with your child. No child will be able to change plans without parent communication to the teacher or office
  • call the Lyon office at 732.3630 if a change is needed after 2:00pm
  • email your child's teacher the change, however, please make sure the teacher replies to make sure message was read prior to 2:00pm
  • send up to one week's transportation changes in advance

  • For STRIPES changes, please notify the STRIPES 360 office AND the Lyon Office
  • The office does NOT allow transportation changes after 3:00 pm
  • Any student being picked up early must be picked up prior to 3:15 pm in the front office. If you arrive later you will be required to pick your child up in the car lane at the back of Lyon.
What Time Does School Begin and End?
  • Monday-Thursday, the building will be open for students to enter beginning at 8:10 a.m. with the school day beginning at 8:30 a.m. Students will be dismissed at 3:30 p.m.
  • Students are considered "late" if they are not seated in their classrooms at 8:30.
  • Each Friday is an early release day. Students may still arrive beginning at 8:10 a.m. with the school day starting at 8:30 a.m. with dismissal occurring at 2:30 p.m. For more information on weekly Friday early release, please visit our webpage to find answers to frequently asked questions.
Will Your Child Be Eating Breakfast at School?
  • To make sure your child has time to eat their grab and go breakfast, your child should arrive prior to 8:25
  • All bus riders arrive prior to this time, so they have plenty of time to eat.
  • Unlike summer school, families are charged for these meals. If you wish for your child not to participate in the breakfast program communicate this with your child. Any child who stops by the breakfast cart, will receive a breakfast.
Will My Child Receive A Chromebook If We Move to Phase 2/3?
As you are aware, the Republic School District has created a three-phase plan to address COVID19's impact. Details of the RepMO Return to Learn plan can be found at https://www.republicschools.org/healthupdates. We are currently in phase 1 and our goal is to remain in phase 1 for as much of the school year as possible.

However, as a precaution, we also want to be prepared in the case that phase 2 or 3 have to be implemented. Therefore, we need to know if you'd like to check out a district Chromebook for your student(s) if we need to move to phase 2 or 3. Students are welcome to use devices they already have at home, but we certainly want to provide the resources needed should virtual learning need to be implemented.

Also, families who have indicated they do not have reliable internet access will be contacted in the coming weeks to determine if a district hotspot would be a good fit. Please complete the form below.

**PLEASE COMPLETE A FORM FOR EACH ELEMENTARY STUDENT IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD**
**PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4**
