All Together Now matching grant for Jewish Camp 2021, powered by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. #JewishCampStrong

We have exciting news to share: the Harold Grinspoon Foundation announced a second round of the All Together Now matching grant for Jewish Camp! Camp Interlaken was fortunate to receive more than $95,000 in the first round of this program, due to the generosity of our Camp family in response to the COVID-19 crisis. We met the match challenge in the first round, and with your help, we can do it again!

Through December 31 your gift to Camp Interlaken will be matched! For every $2 you give, the Foundation will add $1 to help fund Camp Interlaken’s greatest needs. To add to our excitement, this year’s match challenge includes a $10,000 bonus if we complete the match by October 1, 2021. Now is the BEST time to make an investment in Camp to ensure that Camp Interlaken recovers from the COVID-19 crisis stronger and more vibrant than ever!

Song Leading With My Dad

by Shayna Bilsky

The second I found out Camp was suspended for the summer of 2020, tears started rushing down my face. I was heartbroken. I was going to be a K’farnick, but that got taken away from me by Covid-19. Even though Camp was suspended, the amazing programming did not stop.

I got to Zoom with my friends and counselors, open the Shabbat Box with my family, celebrate Shabbat with the camp community over zoom, watch song sessions, and even lead camp song sessions on Facebook with my dad. Read More

A Summer Without Camp

by Sam Feiges

Our cabin, Cabin Leah, grew so close throughout the summer of 2019 (Second Session). We were a very large group but still managed to become closer and closer throughout those four weeks. Read More

“Camp Interlaken is special to me because it was always my favorite month of the year, and it allowed me to make best friends from all across the country. The experiences I’ve had bonding with my cabin mates, whether it be just hanging out on our own time or the fun activities the staff planned every night, will be something I cherish forever and can’t get anywhere else.”

Looking For K'far Reunion Coordinators

Are you the social connector of your camp friends?

Camp Interlaken is looking for representatives from every K’far year to coordinate an annual online reunion for their group. It was wonderful to see so many camp groups connecting through zoom this past Spring.

Let’s make these informal zoom meetups a tradition! If interested in helping, please contact Tova Blasberg

ATO (Alumni Take Over)

by Jesse Sondel

KTO bridged the age groups across the machaneh, it gave counselors a needed break and time to bond, and it was a time where the whole camp came together in different roles than normal.

Letter From The Director

by Toni

It was September of 2020, and I breathed a sigh of relief. The summer of ‘20 was behind us and now I could truly look ahead to the summer of ’21, the comeback summer! And, seriously, we are coming back strong! Our team has been working tirelessly to plan the Summer of ’21 and make sure that it is both completely safe (as always) and unbelievably fun!

We recognize the losses that our children and staff have endured, and we know that our community has been counting down the days since the end of the summer of ’19 until they were able to be back around the campfire on the shores of Lake Finley. Honestly, I’ve been counting those days, too!

Camp Interlaken will look and feel a bit different than a typical summer. We believe that the value of bringing our campers and staff together on the shores of Lake Finley, among friends old and new, and participating in a traditional, albeit slightly modified, Jewish overnight camp experience is needed more than ever during this challenging year.

What isn’t going to change are the forever friendships, the uncontrollable laughter, the loud music, the unstoppable ruach, the beautiful sunsets, the burning smell of a campfire, the sounds of the slamming cabin doors, the beauty of the bright stars, the warmth (or chill) of the Finley, and the lifelong memories. Camp will look different, but the heart of Camp, well, that never changes.
