Altar Linen Ministry Volunteer Needed
The Sacristy is in need of a volunteer to clean and press the small linens used during Mass.
This includes purificators, corporals and hand towels.
Depending on the volume of Masses, this could be a weekly or biweekly need.
If interested, please contact Patty Mayhle at [email protected] or 206-852-7852

Help! Do you need your Sacrificial Giving envelopes?

Since more and more of our parish members are giving electronically, we thought this would be an opportunity to reach out to those who might be receiving envelopes that they don't need. If this is the case, we will take you off the list.  This is great for the environment and saves costs to the parish.

However, if using the weekly envelopes is the easiest for you, we are more than happy to make sure you keep receiving them. Please know that we will NOT remove you from receiving envelopes without your permission.

To request this change or for any questions you may have, please contact Sheila Marty at [email protected] or 206-782-2810 Ext 358.

Thank you to those who have let us know you don't need your stewardship envelopes mailed to you anymore!
Father will be offering Reconciliation by appointment on
Saturdays from 4 to 4:45pm .  Please email Sheila Marty at  [email protected]  or call her at 206-782-2810 ext 358 to arrange an appointment.  (You do not need to leave your name, we just need to know how many people are coming.)

We have modified the space for Reconciliations to allow for appropriate air flow, social distance, and sanitation. Reconciliation will take place with a draped screen between you and Father for everyone's safety.  Please enter through the side doors, wear a mask, use the hand sanitizer or wipes that are provided, and practice social distancing.   Please sit in the back pews of the church until Father is ready for you.   Thank you!
Prayer for the Year of the Eucharist
Lord Jesus Christ,  the Eucharist is your gift to us.
As we celebrate your mysteries,
the very work of our redemption is accomplished,
and we are filled with every grace and blessing.
May the liturgy become the pattern of our lives.
May our celebrations of this great mystery
draw us ever closer to you and to one another.
Strengthen the bonds of unity in our local Church,
that our love for one another may be evident
and we may proclaim your Gospel more effectively.
May our celebration bear fruit in our lives,
and deepen our commitment
to serve the poor and vulnerable in your name.
You live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.

How holy this feast in which Christ is our food; his passion is recalled; grace fills our hearts; and we receive a pledge of the glory to come, alleluia. (Antiphon for Corpus Christi, attr. St. Thomas Aquinas)
Now is the Time to Serve Our Community! Jesuit Volunteer EnCorps , a program of JVC Northwest, facilitates rewarding opportunities for service, community and spiritual formation for adults 50 and better who are committed to social and ecological justice. We are offering new ways for our members (JVEs) to serve from home during this time of increased need for those who live on the margins. JVEs meet monthly online or in-person, creating spiritual community while staying safe. Our values arise from the Catholic Ignatian tradition and JV Encorps is an inclusive and welcoming community.

Priority application deadline: August 31st.
Opening Retreat in September. For more information visit: www.jvencorps.org

Laudato Si in Action
Rethink
In the Introduction of Laudato Si, Pope Francis makes it clear that he was not the first pope to call attention to environmental destruction:

Saint John Paul II became increasingly concerned about this issue. In his first Encyclical he warned that human beings frequently seem "to see no other meaning in their natural environment than what serves for immediate use and consumption".Subsequently, he would call for a global ecological conversion. At the same time, he noted that little effort had been made to "safeguard the moral conditions for an authentic human ecology". The destruction of the human environment is extremely serious, not only because God has entrusted the world to us men and women, but because human life is itself a gift which must be defended from various forms of debasement. Every effort to protect and improve our world entails profound changes in "lifestyles, models of production and consumption, and the established structures of power which today govern societies".

Saint John Paul II first wrote of this as early as 1979 in his first encyclical entitled "Redemptor Hominis" or Redeemer of Man.

As I mentioned in prior columns, my approach to consumption of resources can be summed up with these five words: reduce, reuse, renew, rethink, and recycle. In prior columns, I discussed reduce and reuse. This time, I'd like to introduce rethink.
