Seasonal Newsletter
April 26, 2021
Hello, Spring!

Take the plunge into Fish Lake for our first responders at the annual Spring PLUNGE
100% of the proceeds go to the Fox Lake Fire Protection District.

Participant fee is $10 per person and includes 1 cup of cocoa, 1 donut and 1 free T-shirt for lake plunging. Participant must plunge into the water up to shoulders to get the T-shirt :)

Of course, if you want to donate but NOT plunge, we'll gladly accept $10 as a donation, and treat you to cocoa and a donut. Please arrive at the store between 12:30-12:50 to pay (cash or check) and sign a waiver. At 12:55 we take a group picture on the beach to commemorate the event! Plunge at 1pm

Sign up is highly appreciated so we can plan and purchase tees, donuts and cocoa.

Important Information
Lake and Pool
The lake and pool will open May 29th if the air temperature is above 68 degrees. We may have the pool sign up like last year due to Covid-19 restrictions by the IDPH, but we wont know for certain until we get closer to that date.

Super Sites
Every season, Fish Lake Beach recognizes 2 exceptional sites every June, July, and August. Super Sites are awarded a custom plaque and $100 check. Many families work diligently to earn the Super Site award and each section of the park benefits from the beautification and clean up. This tradition began in 1982 when Mr. and Mrs. Calafiore on Site W-7 suggested it to Mom, Yvonne. Judging lots begins the last week of June. Awards are presented at the 4th of July dance. Here is what our independent judges look for:
  • Improvements to the exterior of the site, structure only; not inside.
  • A clean deck, patio, parking area.
  • Deck power washed and stained.
  • Shed painted, doors intact, roof clean.
  • A trailer that is clean, power washed, no green mold growing.
  • A site that has its grass cut and weeds cut and minimized.
  • A site that is overall, visually pleasing, using a combination of live plants and/or live flowers and decorative elements.
  • Cleanliness: absence of debris, organized (including behind trailer).
  • Driveway, if gravel, free of weeds and grasses.

Gates
The outer gates are open. A white access/key card is needed to open the inside gate. If you do not have a access card you can get them at the store with a $25 refundable deposit. Cash or check only.

Help with your site
If you need mowing, weed wacking or raking on your site we do not have the staff available for these side jobs as of the date of this newsletter. For tree trimming, spigots not working, questions about lot lines, picnic table swaps, etc. please refrain from requesting these directly with Tony or any other maintenance staff member, since we need to manage and prioritize their work orders.

Deliveries, packages, mail
Please do NOT use Fish Lake Beach campground address for deliveries of packages, mail or otherwise. Packages will be returned to sender, deliveries will not be signed for or accepted. Mail Drop Shop in Fox Lake offers mail box rental for $60 for 6 months. 123 S. US Hwy 12 Fox Lake 224-225-1228. Food delivery service or food deliveries must be met at the gatehouse.

Comcast
Comcast sales on the patio have been cancelled due to staff reductions at Comcast as a result of the pandemic. Similar to last season, the turnaround time from Dale and his team is running approximately 48 hours or more. You may set up Comcast services at your site by using the Xfinity stores or going to Comcast.com, however, those channels are not as familiar with Fish Lake Beach as a "Comcast Community", therefore you'll need to inform them that you are a seasonal camper at Fish Lake, give your site number, and most importantly, do not sign a contract-tell whomever you work with that you sign up in the spring and end in the fall. Ask for eco billing to get a paperless discount. The ‘deals’ for Comcast services vary based upon when you inquire, not who.
If you DO sign up for a contract its not something that can be changed or helped by Dale or his team. Returning equipment is the same no matter how the services are started: take it to any UPS store, it will be scanned and you'll get a receipt. Contact Dale Betts at 847-355-3646 or by email dale_betts@comcast.com or Nicole Duarate by email at nicole_duarte@comcast.com

Large item disposal
Call or visit the store or send an email camping@fishlakebeach.com to arrange for large item disposal. You must pre-pay for this service.
Sample fees
  • $30 for a chair or toilet
  • $50 for a couch or table or grill
  • $50 for a mattress and $50 for the box spring
For other large items and construction materials/waste please take a picture and bring it to the store for an estimate. All of the above as well as appliances, fencing, shingles, rolls of carpeting and flooring, furniture, electronics must not be disposed in or at the dumpsters. Anyone observed violating these rules will be fined $200.
Electronics can be disposed of free at the recycling center located at Grant Township 26535 Molidor Road, Ingleside. Monday – Friday, 7:00 am-3:00 pm.
