Weekly Director Letter 08/06/2021

Dear Parents,

I know this letter is very long, but please read it in its entirety as there is lots of information in it. I am sending this to all of our future families as well so that you can be in the loop for back to school.

First, I would like to address COVID concerns. We are doing everything in our power to keep our students and staff safe during this pandemic. Please understand that if a parent gets COVID and gives it to their child, once we are notified of this, we are required to contact families of all children that have been in contact with the infected student.

All students in that class must wait 5 days after exposure to be tested. To return, those students who were EXPOSED must either provide a negative result or wait 10 days after the exposure to return as long as they are symptom free. If a child HAS COVID, they may return to school 10 days after the first symptom. This is according to the CDC guidelines.

With regard to the wearing of masks, I know each family has their own opinion about this. You may have heard that our Governor has said that mask wearing cannot be made mandatory for Public Schools. Please understand that we are not a public school and Kids For Kids Academy is regulated by DCF. DCF is mandating that we follow the CDC protocols for mask wearing. That said, we will continue to enforce mask wearing inside for all children in Rainbow, VPK, and K-2. When we are inspected quarterly DCF in order to be in compliance those kids will need to wear masks. To help parents, just as we offer free diapers through size 6, when school starts on 8/23, we will also be starting a FREE MASK program. Families who wish to participate will simply sign up and they will receive a bag of FREE disposable masks each month along with a mask holder.

BACK TO SCHOOL:

At the end of next week either Thursday or Friday, we will begin giving out a FREE school bag and pillow and blanket for all kids who nap here. If you would like to purchase a pillowcase, we will have them available for $5. If you are not here for the summer give us a call next Thursday to make sure everything has arrived so you can stop by for yours.

We will also start selling uniforms at the end of next week. (We have all sizes now except for size 4) so if you need sizes other than size 4, you can start getting them now. We anticipate having size 4 uniforms by the end of next week. It is our hope that all families will pick up their uniforms before August 19th. If your child is in VPK or Kindergarten - 2nd grade, PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE A BACKPACK. We will provide ALL ITEMS needed for your child.

BACK TO SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE:

Our back-to-school open house will take place on Saturday, August 21st. With the spike in Florida COVID cases, if you wish to attend, you must follow our guidelines to keep our staff and other parents safe. Here are the guidelines for the indoor event:

Each class will be split into 2 groups to reduce the number of people in the room. Only 1 person from your family may attend, kids must stay home. See the list below to know when it is your time to attend. If you have more than 1 child in the school, please refer to the list outside the school for times as I made accommodations when possible for you to be in both classes.

ALL ADULTS, EVEN THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN VACCINATED must wear a mask to enter our classrooms.

When you enter, you will be asked to have your temperature taken and hands sanitized. You will be asked to enter in socks and leave your shoes outside.

Once in the classroom, we ask that you stand on the outside perimeter of the room and social distance whenever possible. Please do not touch anything in the room.

Each session will be 45 minutes with a 15 minute break between groups. Please arrive on time and do not linger after the presentation so that the teacher can prepare for the second group.
