WINTER CLOSURE UPDATE: December 11, 2020 - January 8, 2021
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Winter closure begins on Monday, 12/14/2020 and runs through Friday, 1/1/2021. Some construction activities will continue during this time, we have made every effort to include those impacts below. From the Stanford University Department of Project Management, we wish you and your families a safe, happy and healthy holiday season!
WEST CAMPUS
HERRIN DEMOLITION:
  • Increase in truck activity as interior demolition ramps up. Please use caution and follow the direction of construction signage and flaggers at Lomita and Roth.
  • Structural demolition of the Herrins continues through February 2021.

CENTER FOR ACADEMIC MEDICINE:
  • Planting is ongoing on the south side of the project. Hydroseed in the courtyard and on the east side will begin 12/16.
  • Terra cotta is being installed around the café & Level 2 terrace.
  • Please use caution traveling in the area and obey posted detours.

SANTA TERESA STREET:
  • Utility work on Santa Teresa St. continues through Friday, 12/18.
  • Traffic lanes may be closed during construction, but two way traffic will be maintained at all times. Follow flaggers instructions.

CAMPUS DRIVE:
  • Domestic Water replacement work through 1/18/21. Work hours from 8:30am to 4:30pm. 
  • Traffic will be impacted on Campus Drive with lane adjustments and flaggers. 
  • Expect delays on Campus Drive between Junipero Serra Blvd and Santa Teresa. 

HISTORY CORNER:
  • During winter break (12/14 - 1/1), the project will switch to daytime working hours from 6am to 4:30pm, Mondays through Thursdays, with no work on 12/24, 12/25, 12/31, and 1/1. The project will switch back to nighttime work on 1/4. 
EAST CAMPUS
FROST AMPHITHEATER:
  • Work inside the Frost Amphitheater gates continues through 12/15.

PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING:
  • Weekday work hours are being extended from 8am – 7pm through the end of the January 2021.
  • Saturday work activities will continue, both inside and outside the building, through the end of January 2021. Approved Saturday work hours are 9am – 7pm.
  • The Bonair Siding closure is scheduled to continue through 12/31.
  • The Pampas Lane impacts will continue into January 2021. Crews are utilizing one-lane traffic control as needed for safety. Please follow the direction of all traffic signs and traffic control workers.

JANE STANFORD WAY & SCHWAB DROP OFF:
  • Installation of concrete is scheduled to begin 12/21. 
  • There will be intermittent one-lane traffic control along Jane Stanford Way (from Campus Drive East to the Schwab Drop Off) from 12/21 to 12/31. Please follow the direction of all traffic control workers.

CAMPUS DRIVE EAST:
  • Work is currently scheduled to begin on the installation of the Campus Drive East sidewalk and landscape, between Jane Stanford Way and the entrance to Manzanita Garage on 1/4/2021. This work may be noisy at times.

LASUEN MALL UTILITY WORK:
  • Utility work will take place at Lasuen Mall and Panama between Barnum and Bookstore. Over the coming weeks work will continue in Lasuen Mall from White Plaza to Jane Stanford Way. Please anticipate noise and pedestrian detours. 

CABRILLO-DOLORES FACULTY HOMES:
  • Underground electrical utility work on Dolores St and Constanzo St. Expect heavy equipment in the area, including trucks and excavation equipment. 
  • Construction Hours: 8am – 5pm Monday through Friday, Saturday 9am – 5pm. No work on Sundays or holidays.
  • Expect road closures during work hours.
  • Weeks of 12/28 and 01/04, installation of an underground electrical utility crossing on Santa Ynez St at San Juan St. 

ESCONDIDO VILLAGE GRADUATE RESIDENCES:
  • EVGR Construction Hours: Monday-Friday: 8am-5pm. Noisy work will not begin until 9am.
  • Building 4(A) – Community Rooms – radiator relocations on all floors – crews will be using the adjacent elevator (#3)
  • Concrete replacement on the fire road between Bldgs 3(B) and 2(C), has been extended to 12/30. 
  • Concrete repair work on Village Way near the Key Shop, and Building 3(B) is scheduled 12/14-12/23.
  • Work on the interior of the Pavilion will continue through 12/31.
  • Planned electrical outages: 
  • Building C: 12/14/20 – 9am-3pm
  • Building D: 12/15/20 – 9:30am-12pm
  • Building B: 12/17/20 – 9:30am-11:30am
  • A generator will be stationed adjacent to the building to provide power for emergency egress lighting. Some residents may hear a low hum while the generator is running and some residents may smell diesel. 
  • Landscaping plant establishment period has begun.

SAFETY REMINDERS
  • Avoid using cell phones while walking or biking, especially around construction sites.
  • Pay attention to your surroundings as you walk, run, bike, or drive around campus.
  • Anticipate detours in construction areas and follow the directions of flaggers and signs.
  • If you're riding a bike, follow the rules of the road - stop at signs.
  • Allow a little more time than usual to travel on campus.
