The University of South Florida Women's Health Collaborative has presented two seed grants to College of Nursing faculty for research projects. The seed grant program supports interdisciplinary team-based research that will advance women’s health.
Small teams of medical professionals staff the COVID-19 testing sites in Hillsborough County. "A lot of them are students in our College of Nursing,” said Dr. Charles Lockwood, senior vice president of USF Health. “They’re experienced nurses."
USF student nurse anesthetist Matthew Jenkins was named a 2020 Pat Tillman Scholar. Jenkins, a former Marine who served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, describes what the honor means to him. "People who I take care of are veterans, so it just defines me," Jenkins said.

More than 34 USF Bull Nurses, faculty and staff have put in thousands of hours at three Hillsborough County COVID-19 community testing sites in the past three months. All told, volunteers logged 8,100 staff hours and conducted 28,455 COVID-19 tests. Way to go!

2020 Summer Nursing Graduates Celebrate
BEST Summer of Collaboration
The USF College of Nursing collaborated with the BEST Summer Academy to host a three-week virtual program for minority teens interested in the health care field.

Nursing faculty, students and advisors held a series of Lunch & Learns and online webinars covering topics such as choosing nursing as a profession, nursing school admissions, and how food can improve academic performance.
Leaders in Care Campaign Open for Faculty Project Proposals
The Leaders in Care campaign is seeking proposals for a faculty initiative promoting a nursing-centered project that would directly impact students.

Each year, the campaign awards up to $35,000 to a faculty-led, student-focused project. Money for the program is provided through donations to the Leaders in Care campaign, which includes a match donation of up to $15,000 by alumna Janet Fansler and her husband Richard this year.
Fundraising for the 2021 Nursing Annual Giving Campaign begins Oct. 1 and ends Dec. 31. The deadline to submit applications is Aug. 24.

Allyson Duffy, PhD, RN, has been appointed to a new role as associate professor, reporting to Dr. Betty Jordan.

Since 2016, Dr. Duffy has been an assistant professor at the College of Nursing. In this new role, she will focus primarily on didactic, online and clinical instruction of undergraduate courses at the St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee campuses.
