Congratulations North Penn High School Class of 2021
On Saturday, June 12, 954 students turned their tassels at three sessions of the 66th Annual Commencement of North Penn High School. Join us in congratulating our graduates!
Dear Community . . .
The 2020-2021 school year is behind us and for many that came with a huge sigh of relief. It for sure had its ups and downs, successes and challenges. On Saturday, June 12, we celebrate 954 of these successes - the North Penn High School (NPHS) Class of 2021. The smiles on our seniors and their families filled Crawford Stadium and reminded me that our future is bright, we are resilient and North Penn Strong. 

Now our focus is on plans being developed for the 2021-2022 school year which were discussed at the North Penn School District (NPSD) Board of School Director’s June worksession meeting. You are encouraged to review the recording of the meeting, which can be found here. No decisions have been finalized and an update will be provided by administration at the school board action meeting taking place at 7:00 pm tonight, Thursday, June 17, 2021. Information about how to attend or watch this meeting can be found here.

Important matters concerning the new school year, which begins on August 30, include:
  • Whether elementary school students (who are not yet eligible for vaccinations) will need to wear masks or will it be optional;
  • How we deliver instruction (in-person and virtual) and when parents will need to make this decision; 
  • How to best support our students’ instruction and social/emotional health, and more.

Helping to inform these matters are the results from the Hanover Survey sent to staff, students and families this past spring and various ways we received feedback throughout the school year. 

As always, thank you to the North Penn Community for its support this past year. I look forward to a new school year that is much closer to what most consider normal.

North Penn High School Student Selected as U.S. Presidential Scholar
NPSD is proud to recognize NPHS senior Catherine Cavanaugh for being selected as a finalist in 57th class of the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program by the U.S. Department of Education.

Catherine is among 161 students selected nationally and one of only three selected in the state of Pennsylvania for this competitive program.

She is also the founder of The Spanish Translation Project, a website to help students with Spanish and English language education. The project helps English as a Second Language students with educational content by translating health, biology and chemistry information.
Graduate Names on NPHS Marquee
Beginning June 21 and ending July 8, each NPHS graduate's name will be displayed on the digital marquee sign at the high school on Valley Forge Road to provide an opportunity for students to take photos next to their name. Each name will be displayed twice throughout this period for five minutes. Please view the schedule at the link below.
NPSD Announces Collaboration with Notiontheory and Unity to Launch North America's First Spatial Computing Program for High School Students
NPSD and the NPSD Educational Foundation, together with Notiontheory, a global leader in XR education and solutions, and Unity, the world’s leading real-time 3D development platform, announced today the launch of North America's first Spatial Computing Program at a high school level. The course will provide NPHS students with Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality development experience beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year.

The new Spatial Computing Program offered at NPHS, starting August 2021, will provide students with the unique opportunity to learn how to design, develop, and publish Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) applications.
NPSD Board of School Directors Appoint Dr. Pamula Hart as Director of Curriculum and Equity
The NPSD Board of School Directors are pleased to share that they recently appointed Dr. Pamula Hart as NPSD Director of Curriculum and Equity.

Dr. Hart will replace Dr. D’Ana Waters who was appointed NPSD Assistant Superintendent earlier this year. Dr. Waters and Dr. Hart will both begin these new positions at North Penn in July.

“I am delighted to be joining the North Penn School community and continuing the important work of infusing the lens of equity and inclusion in all aspects of teaching and learning,” Dr. Hart said.
NPSD Office of School and Community Engagement Receives Several Awards for Publications
The NPSD Office of School and Community Engagement is the proud recipient of several awards from the Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association (PenSPRA) as part of its annual Excellence in Education Communication Contest.

North Penn earned 10 awards total with one Award of Excellence, six Awards of Honor and three Awards of Merit. PenSPRA’s Communications Contest gives professionals in school communications an opportunity to showcase their work throughout the school year.
North Penn Teacher Earns Prestigious Award from Drexel University, Nominated by North Penn 2016 Alum
NPSD is proud to recognize NPHS Technology and Engineering Education Teacher Mr. Michael Boyer for recently being selected as the recipient of the 2021 Harold W. Pote Behind Every Graduate: Drexel University’s Award for Excellence in Secondary School Teaching.

Graduating seniors at Drexel University were invited to nominate a special high school teacher who inspired them to pursue a college education as they embark on their careers. Boyer was nominated for this award by NPHS Class of 2016 and Drexel University graduate Jonathan Hollenbach.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to complete kindergarten registration applications for the 2021-2022 school year ASAP!
Will your child be five years old on or before September 1, 2021?
If so, then it's time to register for kindergarten!

This fall, NPSD will welcome its new class of incoming kindergarten students, the future NPHS Class of 2034. As each incoming class looks different, there is much work to be done to prepare staffing and resources for this new group of students. For this reason, registering as early as possible is a big help to North Penn. Community partnership in helping to spread the word and register ASAP plays a key role in providing the best education and experience possible for our youngest learners!
