Operation Warm Soles
The Library is thrilled to announce another partnership with Operation Warm! This time we are giving away 120 pairs of brand-new sneakers (sizes 7 TDLR to 4 KIDS) to children in need.
This is a first-come-first-served program, and supplies are limited. Call the library (M - F from 10 AM - 3 PM) at 302-645-2733 to reserve your spot.
Join Miss Jen for Stay-At-Home Story Time any time from the comfort of your home. A new story time playlist will be added to the Lewes Public Library YouTube Channel every Tuesday at 10:30, until the library reopens. Check out our Stay-at-Home Story Time playlists on our YouTube Channel.

Join us for a musical lesson that will include a discussion of the War of 1812, the bombardment of Lewes, and the Star Spangled Banner, led by our friends at the Lewes Historical Society.

Lewes Public Library's Teen RPG Club is starting a new spring/summer 2021 online series and we are looking for experienced players to join our game! Space is limited, so sign up today! Registration required for access to Zoom.
Experience a fantasy world similar to Lord of the Rings: Battle monsters; discover treasures; go on adventures! You can choose to become a blacksmith, open a tavern, or travel the land - do almost anything you want with just a pencil, dice, and a character sheet!

This month Roots and Shoots will work on its new endeavor - organic gardening. This month's meeting will be led by Master Gardener, Karen Wilkins, as we plan and find ways to work together to maintain our plot at Lewes Community Garden. All crops harvested at LCG will be donated to local food pantries for people in need.

Roots & Shoots, the Lewes Public Library's teen environmentalist club, will meet at the Lewes Beach Dairy Queen at 12 pm sharp to pick up trash on the beach. All necessary materials needed will be provided.

Throwback Thursday is back! This month we show Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992). This showing will take place outside of the library on the Children's Patio. Please feel free to bring your own snack and blanket, and please dress accordingly. The film will start at dusk (approx. 8:10 PM). In order to ensure we keep a safe social distance space is limited and registration is required.

Roots & Shoots, will meet at Lewes Community Garden. The R&S club has taken on a new project at the Lewes Community Garden. Teens learn how to develop and maintain an organic produce garden to harvest crops that will be donated to local food banks. All participating members will acquire service hours.

Topical Essays Discussion Group Seeks Help in Planning
Topical Essays, a monthly discussion group for adults, seeks volunteers to help plan sessions for the upcoming fall/winter/spring term. Program participants read and discuss new and historical essays written by local, regional, national, and international contributors on a wide range of topics, including philosophy, the arts and literature, science, politics, economics, communications, and more.

On July 1, 1917 the tensions which had built up over crowded housing, low wages, and racial tensions in East St. Louis, Illinois resulted in the destruction of the African-American Community by a mob estimated at 10,000. Over 100 African-Americans were killed and over 25 whites were killed. This dark day in American history must be revisited and discussed to find out what happened and to make sure it does not happen again.
