CELEBRATING GRANDPARENTS
Celebrating Grandparents: 
The Grand Plan Movie and Discussion Event - Virtual
 
Lafayette Senior Center is pleased to announce an event to celebrate the contributions of grandparents in our community! Please join us for the local premiere of The Grand Plan, three short films that highlight the role of grandparents as critical childcare providers for young children. The event will also include conversation. Zoom meeting information will be emailed.

Boulder County’s Kinship Support Services through the Family Outreach Program provides specialized resource and referral to any family raising relative children in Boulder County. Through community resources and education, the kinship program strives to strengthen and empower families, helping to create a secure, safe and stable home.

Senior Social Hour - Virtual

ENRICHMENT
Spellbinders Storytelling - Virtual

Theme: Heroes
Stories help us make sense of our world, impart a lesson, pass down history, and more. They teach us to love, to forgive, to be just, and to strive for better than we have. Join Spellbinders’® trained veteran storytellers and new volunteers as they bring a variety of story genres to life. This program will be conducted online using Zoom. Guitar Lessons - Virtual
This guitar class is designed with the absolute beginner in mind. Students will learn basic chords, picking patterns, strumming, rhythm and notes on the fretboard to enjoy playing a variety of songs. Please bring a 6 string guitar to class. Teaching materials will be provided. Instructor: Felicity Muench

iPad, iPhone & Android Tips for Low Vision Users - Virtual

If you have low vision and struggle to use your technology devices, join Ensight Skills Center for hands on learning of how to use the vision accessibility features of iPads, iPhones and Androids. Learn how easy it is to use touch, voice and display features; use accessibility features like audio descriptions for videos, wallpaper for better contrast and visibility, and display and text size; helpful apps and more. Register by 5/13.

FITNESS
Young at Heart Yoga Flow - virtual
This is the virtual version of SilverSneakers® Yoga. Move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.

Young at Heart Aerobic Flow - virtual
This is the virtual version of SilverSneakers® Classic. Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities of daily living.

Tai Chi 1 - Hybrid
Tai Chi 1 is for those just beginning in the practice of Tai Chi. Tai Chi exercises are easy and gentle helping to develop body awareness and balance. Tai Chi encourages health and mobility helping practitioners maintain independence and lead full lives. This exercise is great for newbies, and people who don’t like to sweat too much! Tai Chi Form - Hybrid
Tai Chi Form class will cover the first third of the form with just a little meditation and warm-up. Class is open to anyone, any experience level welcome. Participate in person at the Recreation center (with limited participant numbers) or virtually in the comfort of your home.

Medical Foot Care – New Provider
Medical Foot Care provided by the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) is offered on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Services offered include: toenail trimming, callus filling, and foot sensation, circulation, and overall foot health checks. Blood pressure is also checked. All scheduling and payments are handled by the VNA. Call 303-698-6496 to schedule an appointment, for any questions, or to check if this is covered as a benefit of your Kaiser plan. Credit cards preferred, cash and checks accepted.

Ortho-Bionomy Bodywork
Ortho-Bionomy is a therapeutic technique that relieves pain by helping the body to rediscover its natural balance. This method of osteopath-based bodywork, which includes working with structure, lymph, fluids, neurology, organs, and the endocrine system, is based on allowing the body to relax, while opening neurological pathways that assist with, and speed up, the process of healing. 45-minute hand or foot sessions are provided by Laura Samel, practitioner. Front Range Again Solo Network
Are you aging solo or growing older without traditional family support? If so, this resource and education group aims to connect solo agers to each other, provide a supportive environment, and offer learning opportunities to members. The next meeting is via Zoom on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 4pm. Meetings will continue the second Monday of each month at 4pm.
