MEET AND GREETS WITH ACTING DEAN
The Very Reverend Samuel Colley-Toothaker
As you know, our new Acting Dean, The Very Reverend Sam Colley-Toothaker, will be starting with us on Tuesday, December 15. As part of his efforts to get to know us, the Acting Dean will be holding a number of small group “meet and greets” via Zoom beginning on Wednesday, December 16 at 6:30 p.m. We ask that you sign up as soon as practicable as they will be small group meet and greets. Only 10 people will be in each group, so please sign up early! This process ensures that Dean Sam will have time to talk with each and every one of you. However, once the times fill up, he will add more dates and times. We truly hope you can attend one of these “meet and greets” with our new Acting Dean. Once you have signed up, you will receive your Zoom link from the office! The upcoming dates currently available are: December 16 at 6:30 pm, December 17 at 6:30 pm, December 18 at 12:00 pm, and December 19 at 9:00 am.
STEWARDSHIP 2021
Most of you know your three Cathedral Clergy: Deacon Terrance, Deacon Nancy, and Reverend Angela. You see them on Sunday mornings, at food bank, at Lenten studies, or at Diocesan events. Listen to Rev. Angela as she highlights that stewardship of the gifts God has given us means investing in the places that we want to see flourish and thrive, especially during COVID times. COVID-19 has taught us that we have choices in where we spend our money and who we want to support. On behalf of the three Cathedral Clergy members, Rev. Angela speaks about the continued importance of your faithful stewardship in the work of the Church, and especially the work of St. James, over the next year as we welcome in a new acting dean.

Please note: Pledge cards will be blessed this Sunday following our service! Don’t forget to turn them in by Sunday! You can return physical cards in the mail slot at the Cathedral office, mail them to the Cathedral at 4147 E. Dakota Ave., Fresno, CA 93726, or by submitting them using the link below. We, your Cathedral clergy, are thankful for your faithful generosity both monetarily and with your time, and we are excited about how God will use both in the year ahead.
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS

St. James is looking to reconstitute the Buildings and Ground Committee for our continued beautification and the long-term maintenance of our cathedral campus. This is an important committee for our cathedral campus and we are looking for people with ideas, thoughts and organizational experience. This re-constituted committee will be asked to assist in areas involving the buildings and grounds of the campus, including: devising a comprehensive campus map, vendor management, security applications and a comprehensive maintenance plan with considerations geared towards environmental and economic considerations.  We need you.

The Bible is full of gardens and beautiful Holy spaces; please help us replicate that beauty on our campus when we return to in-person worship.
Now is our time. We need people to maintain this energy and interest. Help us keep our campus beautiful and ever growing.

If you are interested in this important ministry, please contact the Senior Warden at srwarden@stjamesfresno.org.

The committee will meet via Zoom.
Preacher: Bishop David Rice
Date: Sunday, December 6th

OPT TO WRAP GIFTS IN A REUSABLE BAG
Instead of Wrapping Paper
Wrapping paper can only be used once while gift bags can be reused. You can give a festively concealed gift and care for creation at the same time. Or you can wrap your presents in newspaper or brown paper and personalize with your own hand drawn decorations. You can still be festive and make the gift special without buying wrapping paper.

PASTORAL CARE

If a pastoral need arises for you or someone you know in the congregation, and you want to contact the clergy, please either email us at clergy@stjamesfresno.org or call the Cathedral office at (559) 439-5011 and select option 5 to leave a message for the clergy.
Joy to the world! The Lord is come: let earth receive her King; let every heart prepare him room, and heaven and nature sing.
Perhaps like me, you’ve sung this hymn for years – in church, at home with your family, gathered with friends and neighbors. Perhaps you’ve sung it to yourself – in your car, on a walk, or quietly in the dark of night. Joy to the world!
If the Rev. Nancy Frausto’s mother hadn’t mistakenly parked her car outside a Southern California Episcopal church when it came time to plan her daughter’s first Communion, she may never have become a priest.
The Rt. Rev. Victor Scantlebury, former interim bishop of the Diocese of Central Ecuador, died Dec. 4 at his home in Mississippi at age 75. He previously served as assistant bishop in the Diocese of Chicago from 2000 until 2011.
For many Episcopalians, it just wouldn’t be Christmastime without the familiar festivities of lessons and carols, nativity scenes and pageants. Behind the scenes, lay leaders, volunteers and church employees are often the ones who make the magic happen.
