Dear Shawnee UMC Family,

Please join us for Worship

this Sunday

in-person or on Facebook Live at 10:30am.

Pastor Changsu's sermon Scripture will be

Ezekiel 34:11-12

God the True Shepherd

11 For thus says the Lord God: I myself will search for my sheep, and will seek them out. 12 As shepherds seek out their flocks when they are among their scattered sheep, so I will seek out my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places to which they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness.

The Tuesday Lectionary Group invites you to share some of your favorite scriptures, which we will then share with all members.

Please email them to:

maryann13fenstermacher@gmail.com.

Here are this week's scriptures for study and meditation:

James 1:17-21 Every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above. These gifts come down from the Father, the creator of the heavenly lights, in whose character there is no change at all. He chose to give us birth by his true word, and here is the result: we are like the first crop from the harvest of everything he created. Know this, my dear brothers and sisters: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to grow angry. This is because an angry person doesn't produce God's righteousness.

Psalm 32:8-9 I will instruct you and teach you about the direction you should go. I'll advise you and keep my eye on you. Don't be like some senseless horse or mule, whose movement must be controlled with a bit and a bridle. Don't be anything like that!

Luke 17:11-19 On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he entered a village, ten men with skin diseases approached him. Keeping their distance from him, they raised their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, show us mercy!" When Jesus saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." As they left, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw that he had been healed, returned and praised God with a loud voice. He fell on his face at Jesus' feet and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus replied, "Weren't ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? No one returned to praise God except this foreigner?" Then Jesus said to him, "Get up and go. Your faith has healed you."

Joel 2:21-24 Don't fear, fertile land; rejoice and be glad, for the Lord is about to do great things! Don't be afraid, animals of the field, for the meadows of the wilderness will turn green; the tree will bear its fruit; the fig tree and grapevine will give their full yield. Children of Zion, rejoice and be glad in the Lord your God, because he will give you the early rain as a sign of righteousness; he will pour down abundant rain for you, the early and the late rains as before. The threshing floors will be full of grain; the vats will overflow with new wine and fresh oil.

Early Birds will be hosting on November 19th at 9:30AM a no-sew fleece throw get together to make fleece blankets for elementary age children to be included in the Christmas store at Crosslines and/or

Shawnee Community Center.

Each blanket will need 1 1/2 yards of fleece. Please bring scissors and ruler to the event to fringe the blankets. When choosing the fleece, look at patterns that would appeal to children. If anyone feels they cannot participate but would like to donate fleece or money, we would be glad to receive these gifts. An FYI, watch store sales on fleece as it is the season for it to be on sale.

We are also asking the congregation to donate books that would appeal to elementary children to go with the fleece blankets. What better way to read a book than bundled up in a nice warm blanket!

Any questions, please contact Vickie Hammons or Ophelia Behee.

HEIFER CHRISTMAS CARD PROJECT

– The Gift That Keeps Giving

We will be selling Heifer Project animals again this year in the Narthex from November 27 through December 18.

For those people who don’t know how Heifer Projects works, animals are given to people in third world countries, but the neat part of the program is that they are required to pass an offspring on to someone else the next year, so the gift continues to give.

Heifer Project also teaches people in third world countries better farming techniques, etc.  You can give an animal in the name of a relative or friend.  We have cards that you can give or send to the friend or relative telling them of your gift.

Recently, our church received a letter from UMCOR thanking us for our donations so far this year in the amount of $6,393.32!

100% of donated funds go directly to those in need after natural and man-made disasters.

Thank you for your generosity!
