Masks and COVID-19 Vaccination: A Message from Dr. House
Mercer University, under the guidance of CDC guidelines, has lifted the mask mandate for those who are FULLY IMMUNIZED against COVID-19. What does this mean for you? If you are fully immunized you may remove your mask while inside a School of Medicine building except when providing patient care (MD students in clinics or hospitals and MFT students seeing patients face-to-face). Clinic, hospital, and student health settings will still require a mask.
While we will not be checking your immunization status, you are expected to only remove your mask if you have been vaccinated. Failure to wear a mask when not vaccinated will be seen as a professionalism issue. To be opted out of random COVID testing you will have to demonstrate your vaccine status to Student Health. As always, please continue to be considerate of the many opinions of those around you.
