Federal Advocacy
AESA - AASA Joint Leadership Funding Request

AESA and AASA recently sent a joint letter to congress to reiterate the critical need of federal funding to support schools and ESAs for the 2020-21 school year. We want to ensure that as Congress negotiates its latest emergency supplemental funding in response to the COVID‐19 pandemic, they include significant, robust, and flexible education stabilization funding for our nation’s public schools . . . funding that is distinct from and in addition to any broader state and local stabilization funding. The costs being incurred by districts and ESAs, and those covered by the federal funding, represent what it will take to merely stabilize current services and costs associated with the three reopening models (fully in‐person, fully online, and hybrid) in the wake of revenue losses at both the state and local level.

Our requests continue to be clear, and remain the same: $200 billion in emergency funding directly to states for support to local education agencies (LEAs) and regional educational services agencies (ESAs); funding that is outside of and in addition to broader state stabilization funding; as well as at least $4 billion in emergency funding to support remote learning.

Staying at home during the coronavirus outbreak can help you avoid contracting the potentially deadly pathogen. Arming your immune system and creating a natural shield by eating foods rich in essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants can help you fight off an infection, whether it is COVID-19 or other viruses and bacterium.
