Weekly Director Letter 04/02/2021
Dear Parents,
This week was an exciting one for our budding Botanists. Students in VPK and our Rainbow Kids had the chance to pick the green and red peppers, the cabbage, broccoli, and tomatoes. We had it all washed and cut and served it to our students. The kids in Green and Red had cole slaw made with the cabbage and the rest of the school sampled the tomatoes, peppers and broccoli. Studies show that kids who get excited about growing their veggies tend to eat more veggies. In case you missed it on Facebook or don't have Facebook, here is a link to a short garden field study video showing our older kids measuring and counting in the garden. There are also photos at the bottom of that page.

Although it is a short week as we are closed for Good Friday, there was still a lot of excitement. We just completed a playground renovation on our main playground similar to the one we did in January on our toddler playground. Soft artificial grass has replaced our bonded rubber surfacing. It was installed on top so the area is very bouncy and has a great safe fall zone. The kids are really loving it.

This week were were also so blessed to have so many parents volunteer to help at our school. I sent out one message on Brightwheel and within 2 hours, volunteers showed up and our 20 new student desks were assembled. I also put out a message for parents to volunteer at home to tape eggs shut and by the end of the day, thousands of eggs had been picked up and taped shut! I am so very grateful for all the help.

Finally, next week we will be taking some student photos. On Tuesday, anyone who is new to our school since October or students who were absent on picture day will have their photos taken. Also on Tuesday we will have our Spring Egg Hunt. All kids are asked to either bring in 12 eggs filled with NON CANDY ITEMS or sign up to be billed $5 and we will provide them. There will be a flyer outside the school with pricing information. On Wednesday VPK kids will take their cap and gown photos.
For those of you who observed Passover, I hope it was a happy one. For those of you who observe Easter, I hope you have a great holiday with your family.
