CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE -
Leslie Weidel wears many hats and wears them well. She is Cape May MAC's
Publications & Website Manager, designing and maintaining print marketing materials for the organization. She did the behind-the-scenes work with Chief Outreach Officer Eliza Lotozo to launch our new website and now maintains it. She handles many of Cape May MAC's Social Media postings and, in between all that, she owns and runs her own business. This accomplished millennial has brought energy, enthusiasm and creativity to the organization since her arrival in 2017.
Her family moved from Connecticut to Cape May when she was 18, and she graduated from Springfield College with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training. She worked a variety of jobs in Cape May, and earned a certification in massage therapy, which led to her opening her own business with a partner: Shore Soaps, with shops in Cape May and Stone Harbor.
She began at Cape May MAC as Marketing Assistant.
"Eliza Lotozo reached out to me and I decided to consider the position to strengthen my skills in social media marketing and to help MAC market themselves better. I didn't expect to get as much out of MAC as I have. Over the past three years I have grown professionally and personally," she said.
"I love creating our publication pieces. I had never used InDesign before, so there is a learning curve, but I caught on quickly and have had a lot of fun using this program. My favorite designs have been our new membership brochure, the Cape May Music Festival brochure, and the Travel Show Book. I joked with Eliza that in my next life I would like to design layouts for fashion magazines."
With quarantine in place, staff who are able to, are working from home.
"I love working from home," she said. "It allows me to multitask more efficiently. Now that the website is up, I am back to working on my projects pre-quarantine. With our name change (from Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities to Cape May MAC, in March) we have a lot of pieces that need to be updated and redesigned. Between our team meetings, creating social media content, updating the website, redesigning signs, designing new ads, and creating posters and brochures - I'm pretty busy."
Leslie has a real artistic and creative talent and passion that she channels into her work for Cape May MAC.
"As a young girl, my mom and I always made crafts together, which we would sometimes sell at craft shows. I realized then I love selling and marketing products that I or those close to me have made. I love Cape May, I love my co-workers, and love what we all produce within our departments, which makes my marketing job amazingly easy to do!"
